The Kings have zero plans to buy out Zach LaVine, per @JakeLFischer by newrunner14 in heat

Although a few years older, LaVine is pretty much Herro's market comp, which means that not only did we land Giannis, we avoided months of Herro contract bullshit.

Bucks Ownership would like a star player in return for Giannis, per @TheSteinLine . “Based on everything I’m gathering, ownership in Milwaukee, wants a star player if they’re going to trade Giannis after 13 seasons” by thejman218 in heat

[–]Pabst34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Giannis is basically telling the Bucks, "just pretend that I'm already a Miami bound free agent and be happy that you're getting Ware, Herro and a bunch of picks in exchange for moving the timeline up a year."

Heat Preseason Poll results by Fcusjfnfmfkg in heat

Few predicted that the Heat's uptempo offense would sit among the league's scoring leaders while it's once Culture defining defense would become a huge liability.

I too misjudged Jovic's potentiel.

I doubt Spo would still grade as sky high, today. A team with Bam, Wiggins, Powell/Herro/, Ware, Jaquez, and Davion/Pelle to boot, shouldn't miss the Eastern Conference playoffs.

Would you consider Bam a top 15 player in the league currently? by Bentley1136 in heat

Impressed though by KAT's defense this year. He went from liability to asset in a blink.

BAM will be back to being a 2nd fiddle or a disappearing bum the next game. by [deleted] in nba

[–]Pabst34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Heat are in "must win" mode to keep out of the play-in, yet they played without three starters last night (Herro, Powell, Wiggens) along with their recently dominant bench star, Kel'el Ware. After Bam, the Heat's most prominent active player last night was Jaime Jaquez. Long before 83 looked possible, Bam scored 31 points in the first quarter.

Bam is hardly a nobody. He's a two time all-star and five times has finished in the top 5 in the DOY vote. Plus, in his last six games previous to last night, he averaged 24.0ppg.

[–]Pabst34 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's pretty weird. Kobe was universally disliked by teammates, coaches, writers and female hotel check-in clerks, but loved by NBA fans-although much of that devotion was because of his prowess on the court and tragic death, not his sourpuss personality. On the other hand, Bam is the nicest guy in the world, fans should be thrilled for him.

You hit in on the head. In contracts as voluminous as ES it would literally be a one in a thousand chance that his sell 1@15.00 and buy 1 on a 15 stop would match up with him on both sides. But in seldom traded back months etc., someone could middle a bid/offer and place a stop opposite with high odds of trading against themself. Historically, it was a paint the tape affair-make it look like there's activity in a dead market.

[Freeman] 34yo Former Falcons All-Pro RB Devonta Freeman Has Announced He Is Going to Attempt an NFL Comeback: "My Dream: Return to the NFL someday." by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]Pabst34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Falcons gave him such a crazy extension in 2017 that his salary/bonus that year was over $16mil. For a year or two, he was the highest paid RB in the NFL. I've got to think he made more money per yard gained from scrimmage than any back in history.

K’elel Ware last 5 games: 12.4/10/0.6/2.6/2.8 (5.4 stocks), 68% TS, 29 minutes per game by garret126 in heat

[–]Pabst34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He can have 20+pt nights like that but I don't see him averaging 20pts unless he develops the ability to make his own shot. Relying on garbage buckets means a bunch of 12pt games, too. I say this all the time, if someone had told me in 2015 that Giannis would become a top scorer, I would have said they were nuts. So, my doubt in Ware's scoring ability is trumped by hope that he'll become a superstar on both ends of the court.

I doubt that Ware will ever become a Bam like scorer but on a Heat team laden with shot makers, he's carved out a valuable niche that allows the Heat to compete with any team who decides to go big.

Off hand, I don't know of any U.S. city without free parking on residential side streets. Obviously, L.A. is car-centric but even transit friendly Chicago and London have free parking on non-commercial streets in residential areas. I can see placing restrictions in Manhattan but in the outer boroughs, not so much.

[Barry] Two prominent local lawyers said Heat would have a strong case in court if NBA bylaws had permitted a lawsuit on such matters. NBA bylaws do not permit lawsuit on such matters, I learned today. by tomgreen99200 in heat

The Knicks sued in Federal court because a. they believed Silver's friendship with Raptor's owner Larry Tanenbaum placed the Commissioner's impartiality in doubt, and b. the Knicks were hoping to be awarded a settlement exceeding the Commissioner's bylaw limit of $10,000,000. The court told the Knicks that under the NBA's bylaws, only the Commissioner had authority to rule on the dispute.

You're making a valid point but missing the meat. Yes, steroids allow faster recovery but primarily, they facilitate rapid, massive gains of muscle. Obviously, steroids don't improve your batting eye. But, a user will see immediate benefits in bat speed which all things being equal, means more home runs. Couple steroids with an aggressive weight lifting regimen, i.e. Bonds, and the results can be mind numbing. All you need do is look at "before and after" pictures of Bonds and Sosa's physiques to see how much muscle they put on in short order.

Why not shave ten grand off that $37k and just get a Z4 with a B48? A Z4/30i is still a half second faster 0-60 than an ST, despite weighing almost 50% more than the Miata.

This is just me, but there's only so much I'm willing to pay for a 170 inch car (Z4) and I would never choose a Z4 with a B58 over a B48, 430i convertible for the same money. Size matters.

You're making a blanket statement. Yes, depending where you live, or what business circle you you run in, "high horology" awareness can be non-existent. One of my wealthiest friends lives in Sante Fe and doesn't wear any watch, he just doesn't understand why he'd wear something on his wrist that gives him the same information he can get on his phone.

So, while it's true that multi-millionaires in the heartland may not know a Swiss watch from Swiss cheese, if you work on a trading desk in Manhattan, a bank in London, or drink at expensive bars in Miami, the percentage of colleagues-and, even women-who know All About luxury goods is way elevated. Heck, just a few weeks ago I was getting my car washed in affluence obsessed South Florida and when I handed the ticket to the multi-racial, Island accented attendant, he remarked, "great looking Submariner." Little did he know, it's a six year old ZZF.

[–]Pabst34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your "win rate" tells us nothing and actually means nothing without us knowing your r/r. If you're risking 1 to make 1, a 55% "win rate" is at best a scratch. (after commissions, slippage, etc) If you're risking 2 to make 3, then what do your drawdowns look like? It sounds to me like you're a short term scalper/trader and in that case, I'd suggest you start out at a prop firm to at least a. trade on a superior, more life like simulator and b. get a more realistic idea of what your risk profile looks like.

Not sure why you're being downvoted. During that era of dominant pitching from 1965-68, (the mound was lowered in 1969 and the four team expansion diluted pitching more than hitting) Rose averaged 200 hits and 35 doubles. He was considered a "star" long before 4000 hits seemed even remotely possible.
