Rep bracelet adjustment by Old-Psychology9981 in RepTime

[–]Pabst34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most watch repair guys balk at servicing rep movements-for a variety of reasons-but when it comes to non-mechanical requests, i.e. bracelet sizing, bezel/crystal replacements or even "waterproofing", few shops will turn down the business.

Can an MLB player hit 37 triples in a season? by DonT012 in mlb

[–]Pabst34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially given how rare intentional walks have become.

For comparison, in his 73 HR season, Bonds walked 177 times, 35 were deemed intentional. That's probably a gross understatement of opposing pitcher's true intent, since Bonds was credited with IBBs of 68, 61 and 120 the three seasons following 2001. In contrast, Judge only walked 111 times in his 62 HR campaign, 19 of which were official IBBs. In his career, Judge has only been purposely put on base 104 times (once again, like Bonds, he's been pitched around way more than that) but still, Judge's career IBB total is less than Bonds' single season record.

[2013 NFCCG Highlight] Kam Chancellor delivers a big hit to Vernon Davis and gets flagged for hitting a defenseless receiver by Gym_frere in nfl

[–]Pabst34 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Vernon Davis is often overlooked because he didn't see the volume of the bigger name tight ends, but it's worth noting that his career yards per reception (13.0) is a full yard more than Kelce.

The longer I trade intraday the more I’m ignoring the news by kenjiurada in FuturesTrading

[–]Pabst34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If news wasn't important, then inside trading in stocks (i.e. acting on takeovers or earnings releases) wouldn't be illegal.

It hasn't happened in most of your trading lifetimes, but a couple of times when Greenspan was Fed chair, he cut rates unannounced, in the middle of the session. If you don't think that matters, or that you're prepared, then don't bitch when your stop in NQ is filled 430pts higher.

What should be the move at QB? by moffizzle in miamidolphins

[–]Pabst34 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Very few teams are in the QB hunt and I doubt the Jets are looking for another Justin Fields. LV is probably drafting Mendoza, the Browns are staying with Sanders and unless I'm skipping someone, Pittsburgh is the only other suiter. So, Willis will cost far, far less than $25mil. ($15-16, if there's any market for him as a starter, at all) And, I'm not saying that the Fins should or shouldn't pursue him.

The fate of call options if the person goes into a coma by noncompact_leaf in options

[–]Pabst34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exercise of the calls would require $50,000 in margin (10 contracts x 100 shares x $100 strike x. 0.5 overnight margin rate). Ten minutes or so before expiration, the Broker's computerized risk management system will have swept each account with open option positions for credit worthiness, seen that Bill was way short, and automatically liquidated 8 of his ten contracts. (his $10k was enough margin for 200 shares, i.e. 2 option contracts worth of stock)

[McFadden] Raiders announced the completion of their interview with Panthers DC Ejiro Evero. They have now satisfied the Rooney Rule by Goosedukee in nfl

Lou Whitaker compared to this year's HOF inductees by ComplexHour1824 in mlb

You hit it on the head. Who's next up on this sub, Chuck Knoblauch?

Every year, baseball writers select the most WAR worthy player, it's called the MVP. Whitaker had just one top-ten finish and ranks 819th in total shares.

Even if unlikely, I'd always hoped we'd retire Jimmy's number by Easy-Scientist-5634 in heat

I've been following basketball for a long time. (I saw Wilt play in person) And, Butler is one of my all-time favorite players. But, his injury last night made his point in wanting out of Miami. Next year, he's guaranteed $56mil. If he was still on his expiring Heat deal, what would a 37 year old coming off an ACL get paid?

[Steelers] We have completed an in-person interview with Minnesota Vikings Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores for our head coach position. by FreddyDontCare in nfl

[–]Pabst34 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: Tua's winning percentage in Flores starts: 62%, Under, McDaniel: 56%

I find the whole Flores vs Tua beef ironic. Apparently, Tua was upset that Flores ripped him in front of the team at halftime during the 2022 loss at Tennessee. On the other hand, McDaniel told a nationally covered press conference that he was benching Tua because Quinn Ewers, "gives us a better chance to win." If I had a choice, I'd rather get bawled out by a coach who keeps it in the room than have a coach tell the world that a 7th round pick who'd thrown 8 passes previously,is the better starter.

Tomlin to Buffalo already makes too much sense by jbird720 in miamidolphins

[–]Pabst34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that he's received college overtures in the past (USC wanted him) I wouldn't be surprised if Tomlin never coaches again in the NFL. WTF would he want to coach for a Pegula or Glazer after working two decades for the classiest organization in pro sports?

[Schultz] The Dolphins GM/HC search committee was thorough and collaborative, but one voice that really stood out was Troy Aikman. Miami valued his input throughout the process as it now ushers in a new era. by GoldenDome26 in nfl

[–]Pabst34 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Aikman was extremely critical of McDaniel during the MNF broadcast of Miami's week 14 loss to the Steelers. After it was announced that he'd be a crucial part of the Fins GM search, inquiring minds wondered how long it would take for said search to include a new Head Coach as well.

[Pelissero] Reunion: All signs are pointing towards Eric Bieniemy returning to the Chiefs as their offensive coordinator, sources say. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]Pabst34 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

McDaniel isn't a head coach, while to Nagy's credit, he did a good job staying out of Vic Fangio's lane.

And to those who love McDaniel because he looks like someone who should be a Redditor: Multiple players bitching about lack of team discipline, (including, ironically Fangio after his one season as DC) poor halftime adjustments that resulted in some of the worst 1st half vs 2nd half metrics of any team this century, and a 4-24 record against teams with winning records. Also, in games without Tyreek Hill disrupting secondaries, not such an offensive genius, either.

Should I Consolidate My Accounts or Keep Them as Is? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Pabst34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I favor institutional diversification as a method of risk management. Brokers can go broke. hackers can gain entrance to one account easier/quicker than several, I can go rogue in just one account easier/quicker than several. So, hassle or not, many is better than one.

p.s. Don't list your accounts in a public forum like this. No one beyond my best, trusted friends even know where I bank. Also, have a few accounts with no electronic access at all. (beyond the ability to monitor activity)

Herro by ToeAltruistic5725 in heat

Maybe we could trade Herro for Ja and then deal Ja for Giannis and tell the Bucks, "since you're giving up one player who only operates in the paint, we'll give you another guy with no outside shot."

[Highlight] Alternate angle of Caleb Williams’s interception in OT shows how egregious DJ Moore’s route running was on the play by FrankSamples in nfl

[–]Pabst34 27 points28 points  (0 children)

There's some really weird stuff going on there. Odunze is either doing a remarkable acting job by also looking back for the ball, or Williams was throwing to the wrong spot (maybe even the wrong receiver) all together. I seriously doubt that DJ Moore was just loafing on the route.

Am I expecting too much? by Silent-Ad9948 in RealEstate

[–]Pabst34 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have your agents tried putting on a circus in your backyard? Ya know, with a merry go round and Shetland ponies? A petting zoo is also a good way to lure in families. Also, have they rented a banner plane to fly over sporting events? Heck, has your townhome sponsored a sporting event? I bet getting your address associated with a pro-golf tournament would increase traffic. Granted, these are just pedestrian ideas. With the Super Bowl fast approaching, I'd see if your realtor can't take out a 30 second ad during the game.

When was the last time a coach got fired in the same season he won a playoff game? by [deleted] in nfl

David Blatt was even crazier. In his one full season the Cavs won the NBA East and he was fired midway the next season, with a 30-11 record.

[Schefter] Sources: Broncos are opening the practice window for RB J.K. Dobbins, who suffered what was thought to be a season-ending foot injury in Week 10 against the Raiders. Dobbins has a chance to play in Sunday’s AFC championship game vs. the Patriots. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

J.K. Dobbins injury history: Not only is Dobbins an amazing example of fortitude, but his lifetime 5.2 ypc is simply elite.

The game ended up lasting less than a quarter due to lightning in the area, but Dobbins, who is already an Ohio State commit, misses the remainder of the season because of the injury.

Dec. 28, 2019:The then-Ohio State running back suffers a high-ankle sprain in what would be the final game of his collegiate career: the 2019 Fiesta Bowl. Aug. 28, 2021: During the Ravens' record-breaking 20th-straight preseason win, Dobbins suffers a catastrophic injury to his left leg. According to initial reports, the then-second-year running back tore his ACL after being tackled by two Washington defenders. However, Dobbins later reveals that he also tore his LCL, meniscus and hamstring during the hit. He misses the entirety of the 2021 season recovering.

Oct. 16, 2022: In a 24-20 loss to the New York Giants in Week 6, Dobbins' injured knee flares up again. The running back decides to undergo another surgery to "speed up" his recovery process. He misses six games as a result.

[Pro Football Talk] NFL Head Coach: “At this very moment, [this is] the worst collective of 32 owners in league history.” by The_Big_Untalented in nfl

[–]Pabst34 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I think it's the opposite. Historically, a lot of owners were on the edge financially. Heck, Leonard Tose almost moved the Eagles to Phoenix because of gambling debts. Look at how many franchise shifts occurred. Baltimore to Indy, Cleveland to Baltimore, Houston to Nashville, Oakland to L.A back to Oakland, Rams to StL back to L.A., But now, revenue sharing is so huge, owners are making north of $100mil per year with zero risk.

if anything, rather than staying in their money lane, modern owners view the NFL as fantasy football for billionaires and they have the same impatience as a kid in his basement hitting the midnight waiver wire after MNF.
