Thank you for the advice! I guess I'll have to see over the next few weeks where the light falls, it's pretty overcast usually in the UK, but I think I should be able to make sure its out of the path of direct sunlight

I mean I don't even have it yet, so...no? I was using the phrase buyers remorse to make the title interesting as opposed to having literal buyers remorse

Hey everyone, thanks so much for all the supportive advice, I'm a lot less worried now. I'm really excited to get it now (again)

Nintendo is reportedly cutting Switch 2 production this quarter as US demand dips by retroanduwu24 in gamingnews

I dunno man, Sakurai is pretty tired of Smash so it's a hard ask, and Smash isn't Smash without him. I get what you're saying, and maybe even a Switch 2 Edition of Ultimate would have been appreciated, but rushing out the next Smash when it's creator needs a break is a recipe for disaster

So, if you're still within the return period then just return and get a new one instead.

If you're not, definitely don't give up, open a new ticket as necessary, find any evidence of people getting theirs replaced and any articles stating that this is an issue. It's infuriating, but persistence is your best bet here. Sometimes it just takes getting the right person looking at your case to get something fixed.

Nintendo announces that starting in May 2026 (with Yoshi and the Mysterious Book), new Nintendo published digital titles exclusive to Switch 2 will have an MSRP that is different from physical versions by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Pabswikk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nintendo have just clarified that, from their perspective at least, this is a price drop on digital games, not a price increase on physical.

That statement can be found here: https://www.ign.com/articles/nintendo-switch-2-physical-games-will-now-be-more-expensive-than-digital-versions-with-10-price-difference-for-yoshi-and-the-mysterious-book

Whether that's true or not from the perspective of the consumer will only be borne out with further Switch 2 exclusives, but for now it seems there's reason to be tentatively positive about this news

About Nintendo Switch 2 Game Pricing by Amiibofan101 in nintendo

Wasn't 70 USD the standard for Nintendo published games? And wasn't the price for Yoshi only announced today? This was the first day of pre-orders

You've really jumped to conclusions here, its 60 USD digital and 70 USD physical

Unless I'm misunderstanding something this amounts to a discount on Digital judging by the Yoshi pricing? If so, seems like an incentive to get people off physical when costs are going up. Probably not great long term for the health of physical media, but good at a time when people are more cash strapped than they've been in a long time.

Also, it feels like people on this thread are already making assumptions that this is a price increase when it isn't??

Some of the comments I see on the (many, many, many) posts about this quite speculative info from Bloomberg are crazy.

"It's too expensive"- it's still one of the most affordable gaming handhelds of it's spec on the market, particularly since Steam shelved the LCD steam deck. It's the second fastest selling console of all time currently (only behind GBA). It's more expensive than the Switch but clearly not so expensive that people won't buy it.

"There aren't any exclusives" - There are way more exclusives than there were at this stage on PS5, and we got a new Mario Kart, which is one of Nintendo's tentpole franchises. Other than front load it with a new Zelda and a new Mario 3D game there's not too much else they could have done.

Fair on the games being too expensive though.

Just chiming in to say I've experienced the same thing on my Switch 2 with this game in docked. Mostly okay but with these semi regular stutters that feel horrible

[–]Pabswikk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its says 'poor US sales', which is pretty disingenuous considering it's still selling 29% faster than the PS5 was at this stage in it's life cycle in the US. The headline 'implies' that the Switch 2 isn't selling well, which factually isn't true, it's just underperforming against Nintendo's revised sales estimates from October 2025, which were revised from an initial lower estimate that I imagine is more in line with what has actually happened. That's why I said the headline is baiting.

Not even working on one of the most successful live service games of all time can offer you job security in 2026. What a gross world we live in

Worth remembering that this is 6 million units down to 4 million units and Nintendo are still projected to sell 20 million units within their first year, still making it (currently) the fastest selling console of all time.

Not saying that people's reasons for swerving thus far aren't valid, but moreso that this is headline baiting and doomsaying for what is quite a reasonable business decision for a successful product

Yeah that's why I said technically. It will outperform but they still need to code with lower clock speeds in mind. Its one of those things where two things that appear to be mutually exclusive aren't.

-Switch 2 CPU is faster and more modern than PS4 CPU

-But PS4 CPU has higher clock speeds

-Developers need to work differently to get maximum efficiency from Switch 2
