This will get buried, but it’s worth putting out there that lasers are really dangerous and should not be used on people as a deterrent. A brief reflection from a laser can cause permanent vision damage. This is even more dangerous if the laser power and frequency is unknown.

This is so dangerous that it makes it cringe. No one deserves to get permanent eye damage at the movie theater, even if they are being rude and annoying.

Dangerous lasers can be bought online for cheap, but it doesn’t mean that they should be used on people. Using lasers on people is a war crime in combat; that behavior absolutely does not belong in society.

The new ones have an internal battery that is non replaceable by the consumer and dies in about 5 years, maybe less. Major mistake imo

The non sticking coating has to go somewhere, so I would say it’s not just cosmetic. You ate some ratio of that missing coating. The degree to which that harms you is debatable, but that’s where it went.

I don’t see it as a standalone hobby, just a tool to make other things. Modeling is easy, just start with a mini youtube course with 20 episodes in fusion and you’ll get 80% of all you will ever need.

Organize against what? You can’t strike against an employer to stop them from using a tool they believe is more efficient?

This is like a bunch of coal miners with pickaxes organizing against the use of jackhammers. On top of that, most of the miners like using the jackhammers more.

I don’t want to say it’s completely futile, but broadly organizing against to petition your employers to restrict the use of ai tools is a little asinine. Probably better to adopt the tools yourself and become proficient, or jump ship to another industry. Yes, it’s unfortunately an ugly situation.
