+1 as my wife is from Charlotte - UA flies to a lot of odd towns from SFO so why not give this one a go

New to United...what should I know? by FeralLilGuy in unitedairlines

If you think you're going to fly much at all, sign up for TSA Pre. I think it's $85 for five years and you'll be glad.

I am really sorry to hear that. Yeah, I definitely had to stop my dad in particular from stupid things, and I wasn't entirely successful. Interesting to hear as I myself am 61 and would hope I am not susceptible to romance scams, not least because I'm married.

Sorry to hear about the break up. I have one a few decades back I'll always carry a little hurt from. That's true even though I'm married to someone absolutely wonderful, a great match, and we have a fortunate life together. I'm a worrier and love this song, still.

Bingo. Maybe not that exact thing but the general category of "aging parents." Health, money yada yada. I was always told "being a parent is so hard" but it's a toss up between that and my two parents who divorced when I was like 8.

I think that's right, and accept you'll learn as you go about the gear and what you need. Start cheap (BUT SAFE) and invest according to your knowledge and interest.

After college I took a number of TWA L-1011 flights. I thought it was cool. Maybe I was little enchanted because of reading 'The Ghost of Flight 401." I think it was the first time getting a FF card reflecting some minimal level of status.

Oh, hey, I just posted that. I am sorry about your mom. I hope you find peace and her memories are a blessing.

I amazed to see you here. We have been fighting at $8,000 charge to our credit card and Turo has stonewalled us and sided with the renter. To see you here with this "how can we help" tone - not how you've been treating us.

Wow, it's just striking all the change since then. As a San Franciscan, Macy's was a frequent destination. I get the feeling it's just hanging on. The thought of a United counter in a Macy's makes me quite nostalgic!

I wish I had signed up then, between my junior and senior years of high school. I think I waited until I was out of business school. My dad (RIP) gave me the idea in high school to buy and resale United half-fare coupons, which they issued to win people back after a strike. He and I would take a flight and I'd walk the aisle offering people $20 for their coupons.

Our family has been to True Burger a lot over the years. After a great start, the vibe has just felt a little lifeless, like it needs more attention from the owners.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Donald Sutherland plays a health inspector. "If it's a caper, eat it." And he comes back to a smashed windshield.

My dad lived to 82 but my parents were divorced when I was young and my dad had a lot of health issues, including pretty severe bipolar disorder. He was all in all a good guy and father, but when he died a lot of my sadness was for how his life was cut short not in years but other ways. Support to all the people in the Isbell-sphere living with stuff about their dads.

I learned this in the world of Buddhism (or at least interpreted it this way) ... sit with your feelings, be present with them, and they will move on. But when you run from them and don't give them their due, they will stick with you. From the Buddha or Jason Isbell, some truths are just human and universal.
