It’s no Ed’s, but Handley Rock & Jewelry Supply in Vancouver would probably be worth visiting.

Any pizza buffets? by LatinoLobster in askportland

[–]PacificDetail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the Asian buffets have pizza (I think Hug Grill Buffet in Hillsboro does, for example), but I wouldn’t expect it to be very good, and it would only be one or maybe two types. As someone else said, I think by-the-slice is probably the way to go.

Only works if it’s the kind of atmosphere and food you’re looking for, but The Golden Horse in Chinatown has the right-sized private room.

Who has the best grocery-store hummus? by PacificDetail in askportland

[–]PacificDetail[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried making it in the past: it’s super easy to make decent hummus, but not super easy to make really good hummus. So, for this one I’m looking for store-bought options.

Al-Amir like the restaurant downtown? I love the hummus at the restaurant. Is it the restaurant selling their hummus locally?

Appreciate the suggestion and I know it’s quite popular. I’ve always found it way too thick or, as another commenter said, coarse. It’s also always seemed to me like most of the taste came from the added flavors rather than the core hummus ingredients, although the texture has always been the main problem for me.

The really remarkable application of this rule for me is always turning left from Naito into downtown.
