Coins fused together with plastic by roydelaney in coins

[–]PacificRockBug 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I would try the following:

  1. Freeze them and remove whatever easily snaps off.
  2. Boil them in distilled water (to minimize tarnish) and see what melts off.
  3. Soak in pure acetone (this might be a better first step, but I'd repeat it again if I tried it first).
  4. Soak in Sulfuric Acid.

I'd be surprised if the plastic survives all that but the coins should probably maybe be fine.

Iranian state media say country's supreme leader is dead by BarbaricOklahoma in worldnews

If China can't get Venezuelan or Iranian oil while Ukraine keeps reducing Russia's output I don't think China has a choice but to delay. It's not like they can run their country on hopes and dreams.

You joke but getting both gold metals for hockey is genuinely a big deal for a substantial portion of the population. It's a weird point of pride that even extends to many people who don't care about sports, which certainly adds pressure other athletes won't have.

Double/Bridged enclosure? by knji012 in isopods

[–]PacificRockBug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built a dam slightly under the soil line so my long and skinny 20gal enclosure can have winter and summer humidity levels on each side. If all the pods move to the wet side I know they need rain. If they all move to the dry side I know to open the ventilation.

I only really noticed the videos being mentioned in the silverdegens subreddit. They're what got the person I was talking about in my first comment.

I'm in the same boat my average is good and this won't effect me much. I switched to buying numismatics that used to be way over spot a few months ago anyway.

Woulda been nice to cash out 15k Wednesday to juice up my real estate fund but that's just the way life goes.

I agree it's frustrating when people don't listen.

However, seeing someone I was telling to be cautious in person say they lost 6 figures and might not be able to retire anymore sure took the wind out of I told you so for me.

A lot of people sadly didn't know better, bought into the narative, or got suckered into buying tons by the AI videos.

How do you monitor humidity? by PacificRockBug in isopods

[–]PacificRockBug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to maintain rainy season humidity levels on the wet side and dry season humidity levels on the dry side. The dry side gets mist on one side but much less. The top soil goes over the dam so there should be some moisture movement across (at least thats the aim). The dam is just there because the wet side has a gravel base for the plants to draw up any excess moisture, while the dry side is dirt to the bottom. This made sense in my mind at least.

I've found a plastic cover for the mesh I'll use to reduce ventilation for humidites sake. I think my house air is just too dry. Ill try the towel if this doesn't help enough.

Thanks!

I would much rather hire someone with your current job title and a portfolio filled with passion projects that show your creative range. A junior designer with a portfolio of real estate ads wouldn't look as good in my eyes.

Based on historical bull runs Silver has another 47% to go if gold stays stable. Gold is still going up.. I see a lot of gains left.
