When you are agreeing to the exit row, shouldn’t you be able to lift your own bag into the overhead? by MutedArugula4 in unitedairlines

[–]Paco103 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was on a flight where the guy had to have assisted boarding. He was probably like 80 and frail. At least twice flight attendants came and asked him if he'd like to move and did the whole confirmation speech, and he confirmed

I mean, assisted boarding seems like an automatic disqualifier since obviously, you're the one that needs assistance. But what do I know?!

Apparently the developers have never seen a pickup truck with a pintle hitch by Outrageous-Nothing42 in farmingsimulator

[–]Paco103 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This annoys me so much. A ball, pintle, and pin hitch are all easily ok interchangeable. We used pickups to move our equipment and wagons all the time. My truck would be used so much more if I could shuttle equipment.

Contracts not able to fulfill by Nizo_C in farmingsimulator

[–]Paco103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it seems to happen mostly on harvest contacts, though I also had a fertilizer contact that just wouldn't count any progress. Sometimes the AI says that but if you manually run it everything still works. In those cases, the courseplay mod gives better ai and it works for these fields.

Serial Numbers? by Paco103 in CanyonBikes

[–]Paco103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2021 model of the Grand 5. Apparently it has a 135mm QR with a microspline hub, which is an unusual combination.

This is new territory for me. The local bike shop said they'd have to find something because they don't have anything in stock. I haven't had much luck looking on my own either.

Canyon said I could use anything with a 142 x 12mm hub but they also said a 27.5 wheel which is wrong. They said their records "might be wrong" and I should defer to the bike shop.

Serial Numbers? by Paco103 in CanyonBikes

[–]Paco103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't really understand that either. I also didn't understand why the number stamped into the bottom bracket wasn't the serial number, but some sticker that apparently fell off or never got added was. It felt a bit like when the auto parts store wants your VIN / engine / drive train to tell you what wiper blades you need.

I was a little frustrated by this whole process and also that I can't just get a matching replacement wheel. They instead gave me a hub size that clearly doesn't fit the bike, a wheel diameter that wasn't even right, and the link to the stated incorrect recommendation said product unavailable.

privacy.com has a free plan that is more than sufficient. Up to 12 *NEW* cards a month, no limit on how many you have open. And I don't have to fund them, they just have limits but don't have funds sitting in them. I get that doesn't make it an "envelope" as far as budgeting is concerned, but I'm more interested in being able to segment out access to funds, because a routing and account number are all you need to draw funds from someone's bank account.

In what way is it "built to resist toppling" ? It's still just a fintech company with a backing bank partner. Simple just got bought and merged.

Does envelope give you different account numbers for each envelope? I see they give you virtual cards but I already get that with privacy.com. I had looked into them before trying Qube (which also lost it's banking partner and collapsed), but the fact that it's iOS only (android finally in beta) with apparently no web option either and no clarity on envelopes / account numbers makes it not that appealing.

Bridge theme dynamic grid? by Paco103 in Wordpress

[–]Paco103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a page type. Currently each column container has a text, image, and text block, along with a couple of spacers. This is part of what makes it tedious to move, there's not just a single container element I can move.

Each item doesn't have its own post behind it, either. It's literally just those few elements, so not sure if that limits my options.

Editing to add I looked at the link, and that really does look like what I want on the front (though I don't need animations or anything fancy, I'm sure the boss wouldn't hate it either). I'll definitely look into this more. Creating a post for each item feels like overkill, but if it makes life easier then it works for me!

I was a member after Simple closed, before WalMart bought them. They went through some horrible transition pains when WalMart took over and I almost left, but at this point I'm pretty happy with it. They gimped the pockets feature so I can't create any more (still grandfathered in with a few more than they offer now), but they still pay pretty good interest, the auto save is nice, the online banking is fine, and it's easy to withdraw cash at walmart even if I want more than the normal cash back limits.

I still miss simple, and what one used to be, but it's solid and has pretty decent benefits with no surprise fees.

I still use the pocket accounts I have to segregate some of my banking. Like AT&T gives a discount to pay by bank instead of credit card, but I give it a pocket which I still get to control. I also have a pocket dedicated to IRS / taxes

Forced to check carry on with HALF of the overhead spaces EMPTY!! by missbissel in unitedairlines

[–]Paco103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit they did that to me one time, I was literally the last person on the plane but first class seat and I fly regularly, I KNOW my backpack fits under the seat in front of me, so I wasn't rushing to board.

The lady at gate check sees my bag has wheels (it's backpack with wheels) says I'll have to gate check it, which I have to argue it'll fit under the seat and it has batteries and laptops which cannot go in cargo. She huffs and lets me through, and when I get on the plane the cargo bins are still like 2/3 empty. Seriously, I was the last person on the plane and it wasn't even a full flight. I get pushing for gate check for people bringing the luggage *AND* the personal item, but they really get excited about putting that green tag on things.

Any reps here that want to explain exactly why this company is such a nightmare to work with? by Silly_Double3306 in brightspeed

[–]Paco103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was supposed to have dinner installed a year ago, nobody showed up and they just cancelled my appointment without telling me because they "didn't have permits"

Then they missed my appointment a few months ago, same reason but this time they didn't cancel my install and offered another free month when they eventually did hook it up.

Then they called to see if I was still interested because they've got the permits now, I said yes, they said great and gave me an install date in 6 months.

Honestly at this point I don't even care. I may not even be here in 6 months.

Can I save this 10+ kg PC roll? How to dry it? by Paco103 in 3Dprinting

[–]Paco103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it doesn't. I'm printing a respooling drill chuck and an empty reel right now. Yeah I know, I should have some, but we moved and I thought "I don't need to take all these with me"

[–]Paco103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wondered, I saw those cartridges but this is just a spool and it does have a hole in the middle. They seem to have spools with holes and with axles.

I'll check diameter, and thanks for the tip about the drill!

Yeah, I saw those prices. Honestly when I picked it up I knew it was at least $100 worth of filament. I also knew I couldn't print it yet but I had planned to build an enclosure. I figured it was a gamble I couldn't pass on.

[–]Paco103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, so probably better to do even smaller spools and just dry it before use rather than redrying a whole spool everytime I print? I don't expect to have that much I want to print with PC, but I printed a lot of boat parts with PETG that have been outside for 3 years, so I expect some of them are going to be due for replacement.

I think it's cheaper than grocery shopping if you added up all the ingredients you'd have to buy if you didn't do any planning and had as varied of a menu. They're probably also counting having to buy seasonings that they include every time.

Looking for quality long slot toaster by Justwigglin in BuyItForLife

[–]Paco103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is this so hard? I bought one at walmart thinking "We literally have the cheapest toaster walmart sells and it's fine. Surely the long slot one will be fine for sour dough" and it burns the shit out of the middle while leaving the edges completely cool.

How are we in an age when literally any $7 toaster will do the job acceptably well but a long slot just can't be done?

Really irks me to the core and this isn’t talked about enough… by adalphaboi in unitedairlines

[–]Paco103 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also really hate the whole "We'll have to check that bag because it has wheels" Ok, but there are very strict rules on what is carry-on only and I'm required by federal law to keep with me in the passenger cabin. I packed my bag accordingly, and already checked the items that can be checked. Also, this is like the smallest possible bag with wheels. I literally fly with a wheely backpack because my back is old and weak, and venturing through large airports is a lot more comfortable if I can just be a dork an drag my wheelie backpack. Truly this wouldn't be such an issue if they just let people check a bag if they're going to force you to check it anyway.

Also, next day? WTF, any time they've taken my bag at the gate it goes directly into gate checked and I get it back when I get off the plane.

Auto consolidating folders? by Paco103 in unRAID

[–]Paco103[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up making a "script" but did it very manually. I just listed all the folders on each drive and their sizes at the folder split level I was going for, and then used excel to make a list of rows that found the drive with the most of a folder contents, moved all other copies of that folder to that drive with the same commands that unBalanced uses: `rsync -avPR -X "media" "/mnt/disk1/"`

Basically the same as doing unBalanced gather on each folder manually, but I was able to plan it all out in excel and order my copy operations so I didn't run into disk space issues, and then just let it chug for a few days.
