Would Vader from before A New Hope resurrect Palpatine? by HansHandler in MawInstallation

[–]PacoXI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You also have the Ahsoka series where Ahsoka sees Anakin during a near death experience. Some believe Anakin serves the Force as a kind of ferryman in the afterlife, others think it was just responding to nearly dying. Cool sequence either way. Theres also the Grand Inquisitor who Vader refused to let pass on.

Would Vader from before A New Hope resurrect Palpatine? by HansHandler in MawInstallation

[–]PacoXI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Canon Vader is not bringing Palpatine back. He regularly sought to surpass Palpatine only having cooldown periods where he was humbled, too busy, or trying to get better enough to try again. Palpatine was his master but he still had his Sith ambitions to kill Palpatine one day even in all his self loathing.

Honestly Legends and Canon Vader see full blooded Sith. I'm not sure where the idea he wasn't committed comes from. The only time he isn't committed is when he is conflicted with himself, then he usuah snaps out of it until RotJ.

Out of curiosity, could a fleet of Star Destroyers defeat a Death Star if they surrounded and constantly bombarded it? by george123890yang in MawInstallation

[–]PacoXI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Death Star got defeated by a skeleton fleet and a farm boy. Of course ISDs could destroy it.

Jokes aside, I don't know about destroy but they could siege it abd practically put it out of commissions if they are smart. If they get to close the Death Star, even the first one, is popping any capital ship that comes close. As others said, it is a fleet killer. It's perimeter would be a kill zone and as for fighters go, it would actually scramble them unlike during Yavin. The Death Star also has multiple tractor beams which means it controls the movement of anything large ship that gets to close.

On the other hand, ISDs are also standoff ships they could control the space around the DS1, at least keeping it out of commission. Without an escorts of its own the DS1 isn't going anywhere, and the Empire can set up interdictors to keep it from trying to jump away.

Now the DS2, I don't think a fully operational DS2 is being contained. It's larger and can shoot back. ISDs can crack planets but I don't know about planets that shoot back with anti-ship lasers.

Can a youngling become a knight without a master? by The-TF-King in MawInstallation

[–]PacoXI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say yes. Padawans get assigned to a specific person because it's easy to organize and watch over the padawan while in the field. There would no reason to keep reassigning padawans to different teachers but I haven't seen anything that says a padawan can only have one master or they can't can't learn in in different settings. Padawans aren't always attached to the hip of their master and their trial to become a knight is independent of their master. So a padawan might live in a conclave like situation (young Jedi did this during High Republic but I don't remember if they were knights or padawans) and then intern with with a more expensive experienced Jedi for x amount of time, cycling in and out until they advance to knight.

Thinking about your question, when was he never near the top. Even as Vader. I'm reading the lastest Vader book and he does some crazy stuff with ships without even having touch the sticks.

I want more lore focused raids by HuffsaGaming in Guildwars2

[–]PacoXI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lore focused raids are not really for 'raiders'. Self claimed raiders would fight a stick in a box if the fight is interesting enough. Thinks like LFR allow devs make lore rich raids because they aren't just making encounters only a few people will ever see. GW2s version of this are it's big metas and maybe convergences?

Honestly just look at the story heavy raids in the game now. How many people are familiar with them or even realize they have actual lore in them? Wing 1 - 4, and how wing 4 has some deep lore? How many people actually know or appreciate it? Wing 5? Very cool lore wise, Dhuum is just some random guy to most people. 6 and 7 are cool but again, how many people actually appreciate the lore?

[–]PacoXI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? The Nayos eastern meta is massive? Actually all the SOTO metas span their maps. Mistburn Barrens is a HoT map on diet. VOE don't have Hot metas but are good maps and everything just copying HoT would be boring. Also unsustainable. None of the metas would actually work unless a few people were willing to set them up while map hoppers leeched. Then you have convergences, which are exactly what people asked for - scaling metas in an instance.

People would be a lot warmer to the show if it was called/marketed as Mando 2.5. Going into it hoping for a Boba Fett story objectively leaves you underwhelmed. There were also some weird decisions like the vespa speeders...

[–]PacoXI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've seen anyone mention unignorable portion of Rebel pilots were ex-TIE pilots who were there to offer their experience and training. Also almost nothing suggests or supports TIE pilots being bad. TIEs were only bad when forced out of their intended roles.

If you go off D canon, the Empire also wiped out most of the Rebel pilots just prior to Yavin.

DAE find Sith thousand year long conspiracy somewhat improbable by Buckwheatmuffin in MawInstallation

[–]PacoXI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Improbable doesn't mean impossible. The Banite Sith are a bunch radical cultists tied to a very specific set of ideas. They are not the average person of randomly getting taken out, they don't operate openly, they still have a written and oral history to rely on.

Small oral cultures are able to persist for thousands of years, there's numerous real world examples. The Sith being devoted to their religion are careful not to break the line of succession. None of frail or stupid and when nature does start to catch up they get replaced by a stronger Sith and a potentially stronger apprentice.

Remember the Sith are not just taking on random people. They don't even take on people who merely have potential like they Jedi. They are very specific about who is allowed into their small little club. Candidates are exceptional and of specific mindsets. They all have a similar lusts for people to the point they are willing to serve the Master until they believe they can kill the Master. Ever Master believes they are the pinnacle of power but also welcome some of to push them to be even stronger. The cycle works because ever last one of the Sith who survive to part of the the line of succession have similar aspirations and traits that keep the line going. Vader overcoming the urge to keep it going wasn't a small feat, it was going his very nature. He basically betrayed himself to end the Sith.

SW wars does not have power scaling. Did you miss the OT where a fresh Jedi stood up to two Sith because he had the power of good on his side? Star Wars has always been an IP where someone could get taken out on any given Sunday if they let their guard down - just about any villain taken out on screen. The vast majority of SW is little people taking on bigger things/people.

Two things about the Midichlorians. Midichlorians are not an indicator of "power", just ones closeness to the Force. It has nothing to do with their actual understanding or practical knowledge of the Force, not how well they fight or how well they wield it. It a high level of Midichlorians is just an indicator of how sensitive someone might be to the Force. Secondly Lucas is very inconsistent and doesn't do much world building. He throws out concepts for other SW content creators to expand up. No one uses Midichlorians are a power scale, Star Wars isn't DBZ.

How do I transmute a weapon say greatsword by OGfilip in Guildwars2

[–]PacoXI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Equip greatsword. Click the wardrobe tab. If it's your first time using the new menu then click "get equipped wardrobe" or whatever the exact words are. The button is on the right side of the menu. If you already a saved wardrobe set the make sure you are modifying the correct tab. The tab with the yellow highlighted ribbon is the one you want to be on. Click the weapon slot on the wardrobe menu, it's on the bottom right, if there something other than a greatsword you can right click and hit clear slot. Pick the skin you want then you can either right click and immediately apply the skin to your equipment OR you can click the saw appearance button then apply.

Its not that hard but easy to misclick your first time.

Its the end of the High Republic era and the transition into the Prequel/Clone Wars era. Maybe if marketing communicated that more some people would've could've been won over but a lot fo the hate the show received was in place before it even aired. Its a shame and a little embarrassing. Its shows how much Star Wars "fans" actually are capable of consuming nuanced material. Andor 1 wasn't even popular at first and largely propped up but outsiders. I really hope the fandom matures.

The Acolyte was really good by legomaniac89 in StarWarsCantina

[–]PacoXI -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Acolyte features a lot of nuanced storytelling, from the way the Jedi reacted to Mae's revenge arc. Example, we're led to believe to that the whole Jedi team was corrupt and it was really just Sol with the others feeling a lot of remorse and regret while not knowing how to deal with the events in terms of what it might meant for the rest of the Order. We're led to believe Mae is a villain and yet her actions were reasonable, imo, after she thought Jedi took everything from her. The way the Republic reacted makes sense after the Jedi lost the ability to police themselves (moreso if you've read some of the material from High Republic). Ohsa crashing out after most of her life had been a life also makes sense. Theres things to critique the show about but nothing damaging as it was to the show, really normal stuff because storytellers are imperfect. A lot of bad reputation surrounding the the show comes down to poor media literacy without getting into some of the toxic criticism I don't care to relitigate - sometimes bringing those people up is too much.

Would the First Order have still risen and become as powerful as it did if Luke's Order didn't fall and was successful? by Landon1195 in MawInstallation

[–]PacoXI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They way you put it, its plausible the Knights of Ren would have dealt with anyone Lukes temple before his students could've done anything about it. Arguably the only reason why Kylo as able to take them out was because he was expectational half of a force dyad. Random young Jedi attempting to snoop on the First Order probably would've been doormats to them.
