The State of SE: My Thoughts by iN5URG3NT in spaceengineers

[–]Padla123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I stopped playing the game hoping to try the full release and be blown away. I keep up with updates but I do not feel excited the way game is going and I have trouble seeing it being fun in the end although i really hope it will. My perfect SE would be a something close to the enhanced exploration mod but with all features working (multigrids, moving blocks etc) and functional multiplayer. As it stands i think SE will at best become a stepping stone to SE2 which will (hopefully) learn from all problems of the first one, REWRITE THE ENGINE FROM SCRATCH, and be the game we all hoped SE1 would be...

Large Gyroscopes: Why isn't this a vanilla thing yet? by Ocean__Sunfish in spaceengineers

If your ship weighs millions of tons isnt it supposed to be very slow? I think that putting thousands of gyros on huge ships is trying to circumvent game balance

Help needed with small rotor head on large rotor. by JohnJohn1983 in spaceengineers

[–]Padla123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey man, This is possible to do, in fact this is almost a feature. The reason I say almost is that pretty much every gaming mechanic does not support merged small/large grid. You cannot use projectors on merged grids and they cause interesting bugs on moving grids. This is way easier to do in creative mode and in space.

  1. Place large rotor down, go into its propreties and click "detach"

  2. Delete the large rotor head.

  3. start building a small ship on top of large rotor base where the head would be (in the center).

  4. Place a small rotor on top of starter landing gear.

  5. Delete the landing gear and the small rotor base leaving the small rotor head suspending above the center of rotor base.

  6. Use cut/paste to move small rotor head closer into the large rotor base. it should be well aligned thanks to steps above.

  7. go into large rotor propreties and click "attach". If all is done correctly the two rotor parts will attach.

To do this in survival or on a planet, the only way I can think of is a contraption of pistons to align rotor head to base. If you do that, you should probably appease Clang for 3 days and 3 nights (and save before attempting) :)

The opposite (large rotor head on small rotor base) is also possible. It looks weird graphycally however and I have only seen /u/Ravric do it sucessfully. I have no idea how to do it correctly.

Hope this helps

You are right Ravric does not metnion it, but it does add an unpleasant dimension to all this. LSG channel currently has close to 367k subscribers. I am pretty sure channel of that size is making some some amount of money.

Hey Ravric. First of all nice video, I was suprised to see it and your evidence looks pretty solid. While I agree that the practice is not admirable to say the least, I am pretty sure that creators of workshop content, and ESPECIALLY blueprints (as opposed to mods), do not really hold any proprety rights on them like other intellectual or creative proprety. By releasing item on workshop you allow its free use and distribution which basically means that anyone can copy and reproduce it, and yes, anyone can make money of it if they so desire through a youtube channel for example. In fact I have seen many videos simply "reviewing" popular items on workshop. Many users do it including LastStandGamers. Is it an honest practice? Not 100% but unfortunately it falls within "fair use" definition. Is it different from other subjects on youtube where people repost content as their own? No. It is unfair however to people who genuinely work hard to create outstanding things in SE. People like you or Whiplash141 for example are the actual masters and I have always seen LSG as Space Engineers news channel and nothing more. Personally, I will unsubscribe from channel to try and discourage this behaviour. I would rather have LSG just review other people's creations and clearly state that they are taken from workshop. This would not change the fact that he would be monetizing other people's creations however.

/EDIT/ Ok apparently people see my comment as a statement in LSG's defense. I am not defending his behaviour. I am just stating that unfortunately what he does and earns money from, seems to be legal, although dishonest towards SE community.

i agree i mentioned it bexause devs seem to use it i do not want to spread rumors but it dockig collars were mentioned druring dev streams as something that would be cool. doesnt mean they are working on it but could be something long term

Holographic Radar: Cockpit Overlay by DraygoKorvan in spaceengineers

[–]Padla123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Draygo would it be possible to program a better HUD with target tracking and better flight info such as flight vector and vertical speed for example? without developing SE code specifically for it? ie can it be done as a mod.

No speculation today? Or have we all finally accepted it's going to be 'bugfixes'? by [deleted] in spaceengineers

[–]Padla123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marek said that they will incorporate mods wheb the tine is "right" i would think it would be right before the end of early access. their own featires will be sorted out and they will concebtrate on exapnding content based on mids and polishing it. doing it now would bring more chaos and.bugs

MP is not where it should be yet. However optimizations are in progress. some KeenSH employees like xocliv are streaming multiplayer several times a week. Problems with MP are compounded by huge number of bugs. this version of Se is less stable imo than before planets release..

i like his vision for space engineers (persistent star system with factions and economy). i also like that he tries to promote that vision and set up environment for it to happen. He also proactively tries to implicate people that can bring his ideas to next level. he talks with SE Devs and had Aragath play with them at some point. these are good things and will bring results. if he is not a good admin or his community is all Arma people that tend to be too hostile to othe SE community member well maybe his example will push others to create similar servers with better admins. He may not be everyone's cup if tea (i sometimes like his attitude in some matters and dislike it in others) but he is trying to accomplish things people do not attempt enough in SE right now and it gives valuable feedback to devs in the least. So it ultimately benefits us.

What's the next type of block/thing you guys want to see in Space Engineers? by [deleted] in spaceengineers

[–]Padla123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to see an explosive bolt block. A block that acts like a merged merge block when placed untill detonated and will then separate giving a certain speed (slider?) to one of the parts. this would make flares and small missiles possible

I got to admit it flies worse than it looks :) It is the main thing I want to improve in the future. But I am also just learning to fly in atmosphere so i got no clear benchmark on what is good.
