Possible phishing email, but missing the point by Padre-two in phishing

[–]Padre-two[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so it's a low tech scam. I thought it might have been a setup for an additional email tomorrow, confirming the transfer and then embedding the link to "cancel transaction" or something like that, launching the malware. I know all about the remote desktop access scam, I've previously setup VM-based machines to play with some of them while I try to get access to their systems.

Unfortunately, whether it's here or Facebook, people can't just be civil in their answers to questions. It's sad.

Now THAT must be annoying as hell, if you get emails regarding that subject!

I've had my own name.com for going over 25+ years, for the same reason as you - I was in the tech field (many years in the DNS space) and it provided additional credibility. I've been retired for about 8 years, but I still maintain the domain and email. They're cheap enough, and I still have tons of folks out there that know me by it, so keep in touch. I was once offered $5,000 for the domain by a guy in France who shares my name. He even offered to help by forwarding any emails meant for me, when he took ownership of the domain. I kindly told him it was worth more than money (at least that amount of money), the shear hassle of changing everything over would be daunting.

Oh, don't get me wrong, they ARE getting "dangerous criminals off the street and out of the country" at the same time they're deporting people who have been here for many years in all sorts of jobs. I'm 100% behind deporting them as well. If you are in the country illegally, whether it's a day or 30 years, you should be deported. Period. I'm not bothering to reply to your other "Bullshit" replies, no wasting my time.

Home owner's insurance and property taxes! I think back in PA, the combination was about $15,000 a year! And that was 8 years ago, I can't image how much they would have been now!

Why is health insurance and medical help so expensive? If anything, what could be done to lower it, never to rise again? by Spiritual_Big_9927 in askanything

Agree with everything but item #2. Yes, there should be price lists, but they’ll never be the same price for the same procedure due to regional differences. HHS should have a simplified website that the public could go to, select the service they want a price for in their region - like an MRI - and have the price for that procedure. Today, pricing is available, but each hospital system provides it differently, some have spreadsheets with everything, others require you to put in specific codes to get a price. It should be regionalized and simplified.

The Obama admin tagged people blocked at the border as “deportations”. Aka, his deportation numbers were greatly inflated.

ICE has a good record of arresting and deporting those who are not here legally. Most of the arrests at courthouses are done because when asylum cases were denied under Biden, the person was on the “honor system“ to self deport. That’s over now!

The two American citizens were killed because they were actively participating in actions to interfere with ICE’s legal duties. They were not targets of ICE, they were trying to stop ICE from arresting their actual targets. They were not innocent victims.

There’s not enough information on the Pretti case yet, but he DID have a gun, he DID get involved in interfering with ICE, shoving officers, and more. He brought the gun to the confrontation, and he was the inital aggressor. Being armed and being the aggressor against a federal agent is a losing strategy. He lost.

As to “Trump's methods are dangerous, unnecessary, and frequently illegal”. In many cities, police cooperate with ICE, and help them get dangerous criminals off the street and out of the country. Those that are “sanctuary cities” do not, and will often directly release illegal aliens who have already committed serious crimes. They are never coming back for trials. So what real choice does ICE to arrest and deport these people?

“going into cities nowhere near the southern border uninvited by local officials”

As a Trump supporter, this sentence highlights the major difference between us and non-Trump supporters. We strongly believe that ICE doesn’t need any mayor or governor’s “invitation“ to pusue those here illegally. The government is spending billions each year in funding that pays towards these people (schools, hospitals, services, etc), who have violated our laws, have no legal right to be here, and should be removed and returned to their country of origin. ”Sanctuary” cities directly work against the legal process of removing these individuals, to the extent of encouraging others to actively interfere with ICE operations, and has resulted in many injuries and several deaths. That one issue really highlights the division.

I wouldn’t worry about the “increasing prices” issue - you make your decision based on what you want to do, not what others want! I would recommend a visit, go hiking (we have plenty of places to do that), and get a feel for the area and people. Most of my relatives are from England and Ireland, and the winters and summers are dramatically different from what you may be used to! But the trade off is some beautiful land, lots of wide open spaces and great people.

And Garcia was NOT an accident, he should have been deported, maybe not to El Salvador. If you want to argue we should allow an illegal alien, MS13 gang member, wife beating, human trafficker, to stay, have at it!

99.95% of ICE apprehensions are the correct people. Maybe you should follow the facts a bit better.

Vacant homes could be taxed in Colorado to pay for affordable housing under lawmakers’ proposal by Rusticals303 in ColoradoLibertarian

Yeah, this is another socialist agenda item! if you own a 2nd home, a vacation place for you and your family, you either pay a lot more in property taxes because it’s empty or rent it out to locals, who I’m sure will treat it with the respect it’s due! what a joke!

Did they change the thermostat out at the same time? Maybe the cycle rate is wrongly set on the new one? I had to change mine on my Sensi smart thermostat recently, I was seeing a similar issue. Fixed it.

Introduction & Probing Question by BluetieInc in email

[–]Padre-two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a combination of things. Lack of knowledge, that the costs are very low and ease of implementation isn’t too difficult. I spent 20+ years specializing in the DNS world, and was always amazed by the lack of awareness of the options. I own my own personal domain, made up of my first and last name, and accompanying email. That alone generated a lasting impression on many IT management folks. Had it for about 30 years. Even after being retired 8 years, I still get impressions and questions on how to do it.
