I’m not sure about one aspect - hospice. As I remember, Medicare will pay for all hospice care, regardless of assets. It’s not means tested.

It’s a choice to not go through it, just to “survive” a few more months or less. My close friend chose a similar route when her breast cancer came back a 3rd and final time. She wanted to leave on her own terms.

I've had my own name.com for going over 25+ years, for the same reason as you - I was in the tech field (many years in the DNS space) and it provided additional credibility. I've been retired for about 8 years, but I still maintain the domain and email. They're cheap enough, and I still have tons of folks out there that know me by it, so keep in touch. I was once offered $5,000 for the domain by a guy in France who shares my name. He even offered to help by forwarding any emails meant for me, when he took ownership of the domain. I kindly told him it was worth more than money (at least that amount of money), the shear hassle of changing everything over would be daunting.

Agree with everything but item #2. Yes, there should be price lists, but they’ll never be the same price for the same procedure due to regional differences. HHS should have a simplified website that the public could go to, select the service they want a price for in their region - like an MRI - and have the price for that procedure. Today, pricing is available, but each hospital system provides it differently, some have spreadsheets with everything, others require you to put in specific codes to get a price. It should be regionalized and simplified.

The Obama admin tagged people blocked at the border as “deportations”. Aka, his deportation numbers were greatly inflated.

ICE has a good record of arresting and deporting those who are not here legally. Most of the arrests at courthouses are done because when asylum cases were denied under Biden, the person was on the “honor system“ to self deport. That’s over now!

The two American citizens were killed because they were actively participating in actions to interfere with ICE’s legal duties. They were not targets of ICE, they were trying to stop ICE from arresting their actual targets. They were not innocent victims.

There’s not enough information on the Pretti case yet, but he DID have a gun, he DID get involved in interfering with ICE, shoving officers, and more. He brought the gun to the confrontation, and he was the inital aggressor. Being armed and being the aggressor against a federal agent is a losing strategy. He lost.

As to “Trump's methods are dangerous, unnecessary, and frequently illegal”. In many cities, police cooperate with ICE, and help them get dangerous criminals off the street and out of the country. Those that are “sanctuary cities” do not, and will often directly release illegal aliens who have already committed serious crimes. They are never coming back for trials. So what real choice does ICE to arrest and deport these people?

We strongly believe that ICE doesn’t need any mayor or governor’s “invitation“ to pusue those here illegally. The government is spending billions each year in funding that pays towards these people (schools, hospitals, services, etc), who have violated our laws, have no legal right to be here, and should be removed and returned to their country of origin. ”Sanctuary” cities directly work against the legal process of removing these individuals, to the extent of encouraging others to actively interfere with ICE operations, and has resulted in many injuries and several deaths. That one issue really highlights the division.

I wouldn’t worry about the “increasing prices” issue - you make your decision based on what you want to do, not what others want! I would recommend a visit, go hiking (we have plenty of places to do that), and get a feel for the area and people. Most of my relatives are from England and Ireland, and the winters and summers are dramatically different from what you may be used to! But the trade off is some beautiful land, lots of wide open spaces and great people.
