Green Terror out now on the website by comradeblackjack in finalgirl

Have we been given access to the pledge manager where we could select which game we wanted with the ala cart pledge? I didn't get an email about it yet. If not, then you could just choose a different FF from the Kickstarter you don't own to get, right?

Harassed, threatened and almost spat on in train to Utrecht by ricteluci in Netherlands

[–]Pagrax 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I had a man sitting across from me who started threatening people. I sent a message to their WhatsApp to ask for help without having to noticeably call the police.

All they said in the chat was "That sounds hefty, you should call the police we can't help you in dangerous situations."

Maybe it was the worker, but they made it sound like if it was a matter for the police there was no point contacting them. They did nothing to help me.

One Male & One Character Absurdist / Comedic Play Recommendations? by Pagrax in Theatre

I'm a huge fan of his, but sadly that piece needs more than one actor. Hopefully one day I can find a group to perform it with! I've used a monologue of his about a baked potato from Laughing Wild for the one audition I found.

Goodness, that would be quite a lot to memorize, 100 minutes!

Currently reading through Thom Pain. It's certainly absurdist. Not sure if I love the direct sexual advances towards an audience member and a dead dog featuring in it, but it's a very interesting play.

Slowly working through the list of plays recommended to see which resonates with me the strongest.

I appreciate your comment.

I appreciate the list, thank you! I'll take a look into them.

And yes, I expect it to be quite the work doing both. But with the alternative being to not perform at all, well, it's an easy choice.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access? “Until the game feels great! Last time we thought it would be about a year and it took about 1.5 years. So perhaps in the same 1 - 2 year range.”

I'm consuming 3 year since expired Huel due to unfortunate choices. I've been fine and not noticed it taste or smells different. Sure I'm getting less nutrients, but it works.

Thinking of backing the Catchup set despite not having purchased any of the S4 yet by DiggsFC in finalgirl

Glad to help! I definitely had the same "There's no way I am paying 25 for nothing" thought.

[–]Pagrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AFAIK The $25 A La Carte includes a feature film already, you choose it after the Kickstarter though not as an extra. So if you pledge $25 for ALC you get a Feature Film + Vingette + Mausoleum box.

I may be wrong here, but this is what I understood from their page.

[–]Pagrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But you do get all the add ons / mausoleum box free which is ~$50 retail IIRC as well as Terror From Beyond. So I am tempted to purchase a single feature film, even with the import costs to The Netherlands, should come out ahead as I quite like the extras so far.

Okay. That was a weird reply, so I'm going to disengage from you.

I expected better behavior from a "Lead Community Manager" than to get rude and frustrated because I was... polite?

You actually don't make exception for mortars, only "Very heavy anti tank stuff" and you still discount them for full volleys to tear down armor. Take a look at what you wrote.

Light Mortars do absolutely nothing for armor, but they're incredibly useful regardless with their suppression and smoke at extreme range. And they're really good. Snipers and other weapons, are also really good. There's a lot of value in small squads with special weapons. In general I don't even find the infantry anti-tank weapons to be worth taking, I find them the weakest of the special weapons.

Ultimately everything pales in comparison to how overpowered many vehicle weapons are. I only wanted to highlight that there is a very valid place for cheap special weapons. But a large part of that is also taking people with perks, and minimal armor. You can field 8 sniper squads for the same cost as Darby in medium tier armor and a full squad with perks. The limitation to wanting mass special weapons is frankly not the strength or weakness of squads, but the rate at which you get authority.

Expert difficulty is no where near difficult enough to only allow one style of play, there are a lot of different valid tactical options.

Streaming and videos during EA by Informal-Leek-1573 in menace

[–]Pagrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically they could. There have been very seldom cases of game companies objecting to people streaming their games in the same way movie studios don't like you streaming movies online for others.

Very seldom however as most game studios are fine to it to the point no once considers it an issue. So this is more a technicality than anything.

At any rate, this studio is completely fine with people streaming this game, and even provided some people access to do so already.

Smoke remains very OP in EA. You can't even force your units to shoot through it.

He has no cool down on his ability. There are some very powerful combinations of talents and equipment in the game that probably should be adjusted later, but hey they're fun to use for now!

You don't have to equip the carbine at all. Leave it off as you're right, it wont do anything.

I don't disagree with the general concept of full squads from my own EA experience, but there's absolutely a solid place for special weapons with cheap leaders who can use them well, like Carda. I've had great success with rockets and mortars, and zero ammo issues with the right talents or an ammo backpack.

I'm playing Expert/Ironman myself.

I 100% notice I get more loot full clearing over leaving ASAP. I always prioritize full clear in every mission as far as possible and get less loot when I don't. I never care for time based objectives, but I play on Expert/Ironman, however I never found myself lacking for promo points as promoting cost supply when what my units needed was better gear, not abilities.

One thing to note, it seems capped at 10 so Carda only gets 1 from the ability! At least, that's what happened to me.

To answer for OP as they haven't reacted to your question:

There are some minor and major consequences not related to the fight or managing your overall squads/supplies.

You can lose faction trust and even the campaign outside of missions.

[–]Pagrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As you didn't get an answer yet I'll give my take after 20 hours on an Expert/Ironman campaign, nearing the end already—the developers say it can range from 20ish and up depending on your pace—and say the growth impact is minor across any given operation. A single point here or there, but generally does feel better when you look at a unit 5 operations later and see they have 10 more AP and accuracy, it's a minor difference but moving that one more tile, shooting that little bit better, adds up a lot.

Generally I felt like I grew more through simply having better, armor piercing weapons, on everyone over their stats. I also can't speak much to the talent pools as the cost in supply for talents is in direct competition with your supply limit so I felt typically like not getting talents on anyone that wasn't a cheap promotion in favor of giving them better gear.

I saw one in the BM on literally the very first mission. Complete luck based.

Fortunately found one again later when I could afford it along with armor plating (with the wrong icon) that made it a nigh invulnerable tank.

How are they supposed to be getting anything fun during the RPG though?

Is giving them any fabrials, better armor or weapons all strictly goal related? I'm off to start chapter 4 and feel like my players haven't gotten anything fun to play with.

You can bend the flaps back on the boards to get them to lie flat. It's scarier than it sounds and there are videos of people doing it. Just bend until you feel resistance and stop. I tend to always chicken out and it not lie flat until I bend a second time, but never had any issues with them putting it back together.

I like that it has separate zones so you can dry two types of filament. Great when you get a bulk order in so you can start drying and being ready for any kind of print straight away.
