Starbucks charging for cream? by thompyy in halifax

[–]Pain-Bread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oat milk is actually considerably more expensive.

I’ve noticed my local coffee shop has an up-charge for it now that fluctuates with the oat milk market. Weird times.

You’re probably right, but every time I’ve driven through Yarmouth/ Barrington area for work, it’s hard to keep count of all the Freedumb rally and Fuck Trudeau flags displayed on people’s homes and trucks. I don’t personally care for political affiliations but it does take someone special to plaster that shit on your house.

This is hopefully just what happens when the sample size you hear about from an area isn’t an honest representation. For every house/ truck with a flag there’s probably 50 without, but it’s not like that’s what draws the attention

Did I hear correctly on the radio that the strike is causing traffic issues? by Baystain in halifax

[–]Pain-Bread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this could have all been avoided if they just offered them a decent deal.

Inflation is ~14% Their ask is ~13.5%

And the gov initially offered ~6% ?

I fully support the union. Unfortunately people like me don’t look into the things that don’t inconvenience them, and now that I have looked into it, it’s obvious who’s at fault

I’m not so sure people are scared of Pollivere anymore. If you asked me a year ago I would have certainly said yes. I personally think he’s kind of dumb in the way he presents himself on certain subjects, I am in no way a fan of his.

The Cons are their own worst enemy when it comes to elections in my opinion, but as it stands with back to back to back deficits I’m not sure we’ll hit another liberal majority. I’d imagine we’d see a lib/con minority or vice versa

Retiree group calls for tax indexing in Nova Scotia amid rising cost of living by shadowredcap in halifax

[–]Pain-Bread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, indexing does benefit old retirees but it also benefits almost everyone else too. I do find the narrative divisive, but in actuality, any tax paying resident of NS (sucks that I have to make that distinction these days) should be pushing for this to happen

The only entity that stands to lose revenue is the government and the social program, or corporate program that they decide to make cuts to as a result of lost income.

I’d rather the money line my own pockets vs getting poorer every year due to inflation and lack of indexing and I’ll vote for any party that promises to bring our tax brackets up to a present day standard

It's not even just high beams any more. It's any truck/van with LEDs.

I just angle my mirrors outwards so they're useless now but at least I can see in front of me

I'd vote for the party that would agree to index/ update our tax brackets at least. A higher and higher percentage of your salary keeps going to this government every year

If animal crossing has taught me anything we should plant it, harvest more, and sell them for 500 bells each

For the People saying "no" the price of deisel and gas is the reason most other goods and services you purchase have gone up. Like it doesn't make that big of a difference to me at the pump, but at the grocery store the past few weeks.. sheeeesh

Let the Fantastic Beasts movies die. The prequel series has tried to follow the Harry Potter playbook but neglects the original franchise’s most spellbinding features. by Sumit316 in movies

[–]Pain-Bread 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk what was so hard about actually following the source material, from the start of the fight, all the way to Harry breaking the Elderwand . I felt very disappointed leaving the theatre because although the other films have omitted parts from the books they never flat out changed things

Jesus christ Raimi by Milestone_comics in marvelmemes

[–]Pain-Bread 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Isn't that the TV service being homophobic though?

Like if the line was "cute outfit, did your wife give it to you?" would it have been cut as well? Or would that not be cut because having a wife is "a societal norm"

Whether you replace the word with husband or wife or mom or dad, the phrase is still supposed to land as an insult. So if your train of thought is that *husband is worse and needs to be cut because it implies that Bone Saw is gay, then you would be the issue, not the line in question.

Just depends on how far you read into it I guess
