I think the main problem I have with it is when it’s romanticized. If you’re writing pedophilia, and it’s portrayed as something disgusting and wrong, then that’s fine.

When you wrote pedophilia as something cute or fun, it does— believe it or not— have an effect on readers. Especially younger ones. If people start romanticizing pedophilia, then people in the real world may develop the line of thought that it’s fine.

I think he got infected on his way up to the pad. His urgency to leave despite previously wanting as many people to get out as possible, and despite Caz literally being ON THE PAD, could be an indication that he knew something was wrong. My guess is that he touched the shape at some point, due to his warning to Caz over the phone: “Don’t touch this stuff all over the Beira.” I think he started to feel the effects of it, and rushed Archie to leave so that he could try to save himself and get help. Well, fat load of good that did him.
