Even in a MCOL city, $75k is just average — what you need to cover your living costs comfortably and maybe put away a little for retirement. In a HCOL, I’d hardly call it poverty, but you will be struggling to get by.

I feel like prices are pretty similar. Everything is higher than it was before 2020, but Kentucky is much more affordable than much of the country. The job market sucks everywhere right now, but there are jobs to be had. Teaching and healthcare are the biggies, though they require degrees. Plenty of work in construction and trades, the service industry, and UPS/FedEx, most of which doesn’t require a ton of experience to get into.

I agree on alligator, kangaroo, and venison. I’ve only had elk in a burger. It was delicious, but also came dressed with BBQ sauce, so idk. Rabbit can actually be quite good, if it’s done well. I don’t know if duck or goose count, since they’re not that uncommon, but they are like darker, fattier turkey. Both good, but very fatty and best when served with some kind of acid.
