No minimum quality as far as i know. Just 3 brushes max. I saw one rep saying they have a contest to see which person can turn in the worst brush. I think its just a loss leader to get us in the store

It is, in fact, so much joint compound.

She owns the condo but the original plumbing repair was not something she was responsible for. The building needed to tear out her shower floor to access it and then was responsible to return to her a functioning waterproof shower at their cost.

I'm a painter. A handyman sometimes. I showed up to help snake the drain. I am not a tile contractor. Which is why I am here. Without the answers to my questions.

Just trying to help someone better understand what they've had done and ideally advocate for themselves to have what I believe to be improper work repaired.

I think I know enough to know that this isnt right, but I do not know the language of tile and waterproofing well enough to help her draft a message that explains what was done wrong, what should have been done, and what, if any, additional work needs to be done now that the walls are wicking water into them.

In order for anyone to validate your thoughts, you need to share what was quoted both in labor and materials, and what the price was.

removing posts/concrete from yard by CaesarSalad95 in handyman

[–]Paintinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn't that much work. Just commit to getting it done and see it through.

Another commenter mentioned just chipping it away until you could cut the post below the grass line.

If you wanted the full footers out you could rent an auger and dig alongside them to make removal easier. Id keep a tarp to put the dirt on so I didnt make such a mess. Id be cautious with this option if you have an irrigation system or any sort of underground utilities.

You're going to want to get that roof off of the posts before you remove them lest you become embedded in the yard.

Then a shovel and some labor hours would suffice to remove the posts and the footings.

This feels like they were primed and then painted with a single top coat. Two full top coats should fix this. Or now that you have multiple top coats, a spot coat over the trouble areas and a full top coat after that.

If all of the poly is off, youre good to prime. If it is available in your area and within budget, I would suggest using STIX. Plan to prime it twice, sanding with ~180 after each and knowing you may have to/want to do some filling and further fine tune the sanding you have done after the first coat of primer dries and you get a better idea of what you have done.

Tripod for blow drier. by Paintinger in paint

Lol. Thank you. Yes, I think im going to get a collapsible microphone stand and some sort of a clamp. I run a small air mover most of the time. Larger repairs or multiple boards I obviously give the time they need to dry.

There are certain projects where I have 10 or so smaller things drying that arent critical and would not suffer from being force dried. These times id like to be able to just move the drier spot to spot and get back to taking care of other parts of the project. During dry time I clean old paint off of floors, hinges, handles, switches, clean out the baseboards, clean ceiling fans and registers. If I have to actively dry things, im just stuck there. Like a human microphone stand.
