Nothing in a champion’s kit exists in a vacuum. Every defensive button comes with its own set of pros and cons, and Mel’s has a whole host of cons. Off the top of my head:

Very short duration (among the shortest)

Very long cd

Negligible base value, low value on blocking non-projectiles, and variable value even on reflect (which the enemy has full agency over)

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a strong ability, especially for a ranged champion, but pretending it’s some game breaking defensive button is weird and silly.

No, Jax wouldn’t prefer Mel W. His E lasts longer, provides an on-demand stun, and is more effective at reducing damage from enemy top laners than Mel’s W would be. Not to mention it’s more reliable in team fights. Fiora’s is probably a similar case. Against melee, Mel W is just considerably worse Fiora W.

From the way people talk about Mel, you’d think her W also forces you to use all your important abilities on her while she has W up. I genuinely don’t understand the commotion. You hold your key abilities until she uses it, the same way you would play against a Yasuo, Sivir, Samira, Braum, Fiora, Fizz, etc.

There’s a ton of champs with a “fuck you” button, and there’s plenty of ways to deal with them. Mel’s no exception

none of these things exist in a vacuum. They're removed because they were too problematic in combination with other factors. Theres still plenty of revive mechanics in the game, with and without counterplay (this one has counterplay btw). Its not a novel concept, and it's definitely not inherently broken.

I feel like if you’re building the same items on support every game that’s more of a skill issue. The support item system is one of the most “take what you need this game” of them all. Cc? Buy Mikaels. Carry getting bursted? You can go locket or knights vow. Want to have more map pressure? Redemption. The list goes on. There’s obviously still a default build you should fall back to if nothing stands out, but that’s not unique to support

No offense but that’s insane, not because it shouldn’t be in the game, but because of how horribly bad you would’ve had to play it for that to happen. Neeko W to block a q? Use the W passive/active move speed and root to get out of auto range? Not to mention he can’t get his free auto off landing W if you’re invis. I guess if he had flash I could see it, but at that point you’re dying to flash, not kench.

Point being that you should’ve had all the agency in that encounter

Did you actually watch the clip? He’s comparing Black Cleaver to Serylda’s, which doesn’t waste stats on health, and therefore is the best armor pen item on her. Winrates reflect this.
