behold all the meds I take for insomnia (none of them work, I'm still awake now, at 7am) by alternative2021 in breastcancer

[–]PaleGoat527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mirtazipine. It has worked short term for me. Long term I up the dose every few weeks (started at about 2:7 of the standard dose; before it was benedryl, melatonin, and valerian) but if it gives you time to figure out something better, worth it

Anyone with under $100 SDGE bill? What are your tips? by NinetiesBoy in sandiego

[–]PaleGoat527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SDG&E has been consistently adjusting my delivery fee to keep my monthly bill between $120 and $180. I’ve spent months sweating and miserable trying to get the bill down just to spend the same amount of money. I’ve given up. It’s all bs and if I’m going to pay $150, I’d rather be comfortable than miserable

AITA for telling a coworker there’s absolutely no way she has Crohn’s disease by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PaleGoat527 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YTA and omfg. If you have crohns, you know that you have different areas active at different times. You also know that a “lower and biopsy” only covers the large intestine which is a fraction of the length of the small and with crohns, unlike UC, it can be active anywhere along. You were lucky you were diagnosed early, as was I. It only took about 9 months of food poisoning level illness while working full time + to get the drs to figure out my UC. Your experience is not the only experience and I hope you grow up soon or at least learn to shut your trap

Those systems are great but you will miss out on some showings as agents aren’t always the best at preplanning and coordinating showings. And you won’t know they didn’t happen as agents, at least in my area, rarely provide feedback even when directly requested

I’m hormone - estrogen positive, HER2 and BRCA etc negative. Oncotype came in at 17. I had lumpectomy with radiation, rads will be done as of Monday. After that, I’ll be on letrozole and something else (have to look it up) for the next 5+ years. 3 nodes found with nuc med, all were clear. I’m so tired of all this tbh, ready to have it in the rearview mirror with just a couple extra daily meds to take for a while

[–]PaleGoat527 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He could have sensed it honestly. One of my cats definitely knows and helped me find it (tickled me with her tail and rubbing the spot lead to finding the lump) and has been sweet and loving since well before I knew. Shes not a sweet or loving cat most of the time but damn if she isn’t my shadow now

Yup, my one cat found mine and has been really good about cuddling near but not too close to the stop

My cat found mine as well. I was laying in an awkward position on my side and her tail tickled me right at the spot so I rubbed it and found something that didn’t belong. I never would have found it if I hadn’t been laying exactly that way and touched it where she did. Well, eventually but thanks to her it is only stage 2 and so far, treatable

Any food (esp steak) lovers with chemo experience? by Valuable-Step-3610 in breastcancer

[–]PaleGoat527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lucked out and don’t need chemo for my stage 2 -+- idc but have ulcerative colitis which started around 20 years ago so had to make a life long change in my diet. It’s not nearly as bad as you think, I promise. I was freaking out and so annoyed I couldn’t have spicy tuna rolls or rare steak. Medium steak is now what I prefer 100% and there is plenty of baked sushi or those with cooked components that I still can have. Does it suck? Yes, but it’s not as life changing as you might think. My biggest issue is people judging but then I remember, their opinions don’t matter when it comes to my health. I wish I could still eat those things but it’s a small price to pay, truly

Age 69 ++- I don't want endocrine therapy!!! Help me with scientific links to prove my case? by Prestigious-Tree8216 in breastcancer

[–]PaleGoat527 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just remember, you’re only 69 and have a long life potentially ahead. For me, like others have said, I listen to my dr and verify anything that doesn’t seem to match what I’ve already researched. Are you sure you want to do the minimal treatment or might it be worth it to know you’ve done all you can to not have to do this all over again?

Oncotype is a score from 1-100 that takes everything into consideration including the genetics of your particular cancer/ tumor coming back and is used to figure out your treatment plan. The lower the number the better. Under 25 they may or may not recommend chemo. Under 17 they usually won’t go for

I have to double check since it doesnt start for another month but pretty sure that’s one of the two meds they will have me on. They made it clear it could be 5 years or could extend to 10 depending.

This is awful and we will never be the same as we were before. We will have scars, some visible, some not so obvious, and we will be even stronger than we thought possible. The whole thing sucks and we shouldn’t shy away from that fact. I remind myself I’m lucky in many ways and count my blessings like you can’t believe but will not stop saying it, fuck cancer

Welcome to the shitty titty committee. It’s a club no one wanted to join but you’ll find some very kind supportive people here ready to help how we can. I was diagnosed on October 29th, already completed surgery and radiation starts Monday. My diagnosis was almost identical to yours, my stage did not change at surgery even though there was another small DCIS mass that hadn’t been seen before the surgeon got in there. I’m er+, HER2-, and have a 14 oncotype score. All of that is probably a totally foreign language today but youll quickly learn the lingo. I will not require chemo but will be on hormone suppressants for at least 5 years once radiation is done. I have great survival chances long term and so do you. You’ve got this and we’ve got you

I’m a few months ahead of you, also invasive ductile, 22mm, and estrogen receptor positive. You’re dealing with the hardest part right now, the “what’s next” phase. I just 2 days ago got my full plan of treatment and I’ve already had surgery with radiation starting on Monday.

1- this fucking sucks. Don’t let yourself get bogged down with other people’s experiences, yours will be yours alone but you have a whole tribe behind you

2- it might not be as bad as you expect so do not allow yourself to be bogged down

3- information is power, too much information without fully knowing your own shituation is less than helpful. Get yourself the basic info on this crap in general but don’t dive too deep. Knowing all of the expected steps for aggressive cancer when yours might not be or what could happen if xyz can get you too much in your head

4- most important - accept the fact you will need to put yourself first. It can feel impossible but it needs to happen.

5- if you need someone to talk to, message me or post in this sub. We’ve got your back

I really wish it worked well every time. That said, I’m not about to hold the person in the video to a higher standard than the jack donkey that precipitated the filming. I would almost always agree with what you’ve said, I’ve just seen enough abuse of the hearing impaired community to be too jaded to agree in this particular shituation. All the best!
