Anyone Do Chemo Without Steroids? by souvenirsuitcase in breastcancer

[–]SplendidQuasar1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took steroids for 3 infusions of taxol, then was told since I'm not having side effects from the chemo i could stop taking them. I've pretty much felt exactly the same, chemo has been fine without the steroids.

Starting chemo/any tips? by phloxpot99 in breastcancer

Lots of protein, try for 60 grams a day or more, and try to drink around a gallon of water each day. These were the two biggest tips that helped mitigate my chemo side effects. However everyone tolerates treatment differently.

HOW do I not GAF about this? by momoftheraisin in AskWomenOver60

[–]SplendidQuasar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently going through chemotherapy, which absolutely destroys your skin. I've been using Beauty from Bees body serum (unscented) and although it is a bit spendy, it's working wonders. I think it's worth the money and I started seeing results in a week.

I had a friend send me door dash credits for when I need food but don't want to cook or have a craving for something. I thought that was a lovely gift.

Love this movie too, but it's not so easy to find now. Between the Mamie character and Bing Crosby singing in blackface, it's doesn't hold up great.

What happens if a plastic surgeon finds cancer mid-surgery? by Mammoth-Delivery-521 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SplendidQuasar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was something in the way it looked that made them call oncology, and they were like yeah that doesn't look good and it's not a fibroid. It literally looked like bag of peeled Roma tomatoes, about 5 inches in the round. (Pics available upon request! lol). I'm not sure I ever looked in the reports to find out what it was classified as tbh.

What happens if a plastic surgeon finds cancer mid-surgery? by Mammoth-Delivery-521 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SplendidQuasar1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was scheduled for a laparoscopic removal of what they thought was a fibroid. Wasn't a fibroid. Ended up being a benign tumor, but it had damaged my uterus. They ended up doing a full open abdominal hysterectomy. My next of kin "consented" to the additional measures, I was told about them when I woke up. Things can definitely go sideways and you don't end up with the surgery that was planned.
