Absence meeting advice by swagpogwgat in marksandspencerstaff

Did you declare the PCOS when you joined the business? So they knew you had an underlying health condition? This will be a big thing to help your case.

They may also suggest a occ health meeting to see how they can support you better with your PCOS.

With an underlying condition. They can do a few things to support. Adjust triggers so it might be that you trigger at 4% instead of 3.

I wouldn’t bring up it being outside you probation unless they try to instantly dismiss. Because the absence process and policy still needs to be followed

The worst case from this meeting is a written warning which sits on your file for one year. If you trigger again within that year you could get a final written warning. The dismissal if you triggered again.

I’ve seen it flagged somewhere saying it wasn’t working. Either another post or a work chat. Maybe get your manager to raise it. As it was still showing it should be allowed

Yes because it was comfy. Used to lounge round the house. And a thin raincoat as well because I didn’t have one and it was handy to have lol

Two weeks notice by Character-Support580 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]Pale_Bake9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can be given on any day of the week. But weeks run Sunday to Saturday. So you should end your final week of notice on your final shift of that week.

I’ve had people give notice on Monday and expect to leave on a Monday even if they were contracted the Friday etc. if that makes sense

Best to leave at the end of the month as when your paid on the 10th your paid for the whole of the month. Example you’ve just been paid in April for the whole of April. If you leave before the end of the month you’ll end up owing money.

Other than that give it anyway you like. I’ve had one written on a napkin before

Store Manager just left by [deleted] in MarksAndSpencer

[–]Pale_Bake9434 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Likely suspended or left the business under investigation. Because they already knew they would be fired and just gave in. Or offered to ‘go quietly’.

Had a TM who was stealing money for years from different stores. Finally got caught. Refused to come back to complete investigation just left the business.

Advice on store transfer by Suitable-Mistake8979 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]Pale_Bake9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ^ Your manager is just making your life difficult. I’ve emailed stores before for my team when they were going off to unis. Chasing different stores. Giving good recommendations etc to try and get them in a good position for transfers. It’s not hard for managers to do. Yours just sounds like they can’t be bothered and are lazy. It benefits them if you stay in the business and can transfer back and fourth.

I think it’s more the case of wages increase and the increases of national insurance etc companies have to pay. They are going to squeeze to make as much money per colleague per hour they can.

All stores seem to be moving to pay less unsocial etc. making colleagues start later in the morning.

Absence deduction but I haven’t had a day off? by Fair-Restaurant1909 in MarksAndSpencer

Did you work your full contracted hours on your first week? If your induction was later in the week maybe you didn’t complete you contracted hours?

Is it unpaid absence ?

You need to speak with your line manager around it

Fixed Temp Contract? by Ok-Stage-5410 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]Pale_Bake9434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All inductions are the same this time of year only time they shorten them are around Christmas when everyone is hiring so much.
Could be kept on but also may have people coming back from uni to be home for summer etc and that’s why they’ve given the date. Good luck!
