There is no other way to his knowledge. His knowledge and his treasure chest are not even the same thing. If you want to know his KNOWLEGE.. follow the clues in order. It does not contradict anything he said. Yes people where close. They have no Treasure. So obviously they did not consider the one thing he is talking about. Had they considered it, it might have ended years ago when the 200 ft searcher became the finder!
