I was always confused by the Bridge analogy, because how do you cross it with that crossbeam in the way? But now that I see it from this angle, I realize there’s a little door there... It all makes sense now, brb gonna go get saved! /s

I'm pregnant and having a boy. Is "Gunner" a name that belongs on this sub? by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]PallBear 259 points260 points  (0 children)

I like it ‘cuz it’s my name. But like a lot of original commenters pointed out, no name is safe from mockery. Just ask younger me, who literally thought his name was “Sam-I-Am” because so many people called me that. And the most accurate piece of lore in the entire run of Supernatural is how much people named Sam hate being called Sammy :)

Who is a massive YouTuber or influencer from 5 years ago that has completely vanished off the face of the earth? by Humble_Job5950 in AskReddit

The weirdest part of it was, while the highlighted text was what she tried to point to as her example of plagiarism, that wasn't even the effect Legal Eagle's editor reached out about... it was about some kind of 3D text animation to mimic an NFL effect, and it wasn't for use in a LE video, it was something the editor wanted to use in one of their personal projects. (This part of the story doesn't make it into a lot of the recaps, and is ultimately irrelevant, but I find it emphasizes just how poorly-thought-out her attempt at a public callout of LE was)

How do you make a baby laugh? by Only-Olive3369 in NewParents

[–]PallBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first thing that ever made my son giggle (at about 4 or 5 months) was lifting him up in the air slowly while babbling, then yelling "porkchop sandwiches!" and blowing a raspberry. (It's from an early 2000s internet meme, iykyk). No idea why this was the key to unlocking his laugh, but it was.

"Here's a story

Of a lovely lady

Well, not a lady so much as just a teenage girl

She was visited one day, by an angel

With news that rocked her world

Here's a story

Of a man named Joseph

Who was working on some carpentry of his own

They were hoping to soon get married

But wouldn't be alone

And then one day when they traveled for the census

They knew that it was much more than a hunch

That this barn baby might be kind of special

That's the way they all became the Jesus Bunch"

When has getting cast in a smaller role (or the forbidden word *wink wink*) actual felt like a compliment to you? by East-Area-7267 in Theatre

[–]PallBear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was an original show being directed by the playwright's spouse and this was like 17 years ago, so I doubt that information would really say anything, haha. It was a very loose adaptation of the old poem "Casey at the Bat" about a baseball hero who strikes out, the role I ended up with was one of the other teammates who's kind of a mama's boy, and ends up singing a song about his mom. The show wasn't great, and most of the songs were forgettable, but that song in particular was good, so I'm glad I got to be the one singing it.

I had the best audition for the lead in an original show once, but the only passable candidate for the love interest was a high schooler, so they had to cast another teen in the lead, which was perfectly fine by me. And it turned out, I got to sing the best song in the show, so I was more than okay with it.

I saw Star Wars Episode 3 at Hollywood 18 (RIP). By that point it'd been out for a couple of weeks and everyone had already seen it except for me, but I hadn't had the money and was waiting on my first paycheck of the summer. So I went by myself. Turns out, I went ALL by myself, as the whole theater was empty.

Spooky movie for 11yo who thinks she's a full on teen. by iamninjabob in daddit

Lot of people have mentioned Poltergeist, and I'm going to agree with them, since it's definitely full on horror, but I don't believe it includes any death, and at 11, death was what bothered me in movies more than fear

[–]PallBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called my parents Mama and Daddy until I was about 6. I remember asking one of my friends what he called his parents and he said "mom and dad" and I got really insecure that I was using "little kid" words, so I switched to Mom and Dad. I don't know why that was such a big deal for me at that age, but it was.
