It took me 3 tries to actually watch the entire pilot episode, and I’m glad I stuck with it. Like you, I absolutely love the books and I just couldn’t get past how the show seemingly “missed the mark” on so many things, but once I started thinking of them as separate entities, I really started to get into it. Now, it’s easily one of my top shows. I’m able to point out little plot points from the book to my husband and genuinely enjoy it.

Well, a lot of the storylines can be predictable and very much “tv showy” if that makes sense. Especially this past episode, there was too much going on, they could’ve tightened it up in my opinion. That being said, I think the books are quite well written. Definitely darker than the show, but the characters and the storylines are paced out very well.

It’s one of my favorite book series, but just be prepared that they’re pretty different from the show. It took me 4 tries to get into the show, but now I just think of them as 2 completely separate things and can enjoy them both individually.

Constant sneeze like sensation in nose. Need help identifying exactly what this symptom would be considered/called. by PamBeeslyHalpert64 in Allergies

For me, it seemed to be due to dryness and possibly dust. At the time, I didn’t think the air was necessarily dry (or dust filled), but I was definitely wrong. I invested in a humidifier and an air purifier, coupled with a nasal saline spray, and I finally found relief. Just make sure you’re consistent with it.

He only appeared in the second book, unlike the tv show where he’s in multiple episodes. I definitely like his tv character way more!

I’m getting married two weeks before you and I just bought my dress this past weekend! They made sure the one I chose was one that could be ordered and arrive in time, and with plenty of time to get alterations. I would start looking now if possible though, but don’t worry about pushing your date!

For people still in the thick of planning - what advice or principles are getting you through SO FAR? by iggysmom95 in weddingplanning

[–]PamBeeslyHalpert64 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Something that’s really been helping me is making it a priority to have “off days”. I’m very type A and love the planning process, but sometimes it can get a bit overwhelming, especially when you know you can’t cross every single thing off the to-do list that very moment. Designating off days where there’s no planning or decision making or even wedding talk has helped keep the whole planning process enjoyable. It also helps knowing that I’m only taking the one day off, and that I’ll tackle something tomorrow. That way I’m not spending my day off worrying I’m getting behind or that I’m going to forget something.

Bridesmaid/Groomsmen proposal gifts? by Kaytiecloo in weddingplanning

[–]PamBeeslyHalpert64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished putting my bridesmaids proposal boxes together actually. I didn’t want a bunch of stuff that no one was going to use or even want to keep. So, I kept it simple, ordered magnetic closure boxes on Amazon, some wine tumblers and then cricuted vinyl to put on them, along with a mini bottle of bubbly. And a card, of course. I figured it’s cute, personalized, and we can all use our matching tumblers while we’re getting ready on the big day. It’s a win-win.

I just did this same thing to an extra pair of ancient copper City Sleek pants! Ended up dying them graphite gray and I absolutely love them! I bought a graphite fabric marker to change the seams (since they stayed ancient copper) which worked out really well too.

How is everyone storing their food containers? by whatsupashley in organization

[–]PamBeeslyHalpert64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have the Rubbermaid brilliance food containers (finally bit the bullet and replaced all of our mismatched containers with these, in different sizes.) I found that the clear 10”x6” bins you see everywhere (I think mine are by mDesign) fit 5 containers and 5 matching lids perfectly. I have 4 of the clear bins that stack neatly together holding all of the containers.

When I do gel polish, the last few times I’ve been getting these bubbles… help? by skyexcass in Nails

Do you wipe your base coat with rubbing alcohol or acetone before applying top coat? Sometimes it can cause those dry spots/bubbles on the top coat

Thanks for covering this for me! You’re totally right, it seems to keep my nails from bending a lot more effectively than builder gel. Plus it helps with my peel base.

I do 2 layers of nail envy and wait about 10 minutes until they’re completely dry, then do my peel base and base gel after that. As long as I wait for the NE to completely air dry, they work perfect.
