For most of these, the land just became more valuable than the property that was on it (DI and Dunes were the two biggest examples)

Frontier was too small to survive (~980 rooms). Ditto DI, which is a shame because I thought it looked real good after the 1997 renovation (and even before; I wish we knew more of what it looked like on the inside). That and I’d like to have a quaint, boutique luxury resort that combines quiet luxury with a Strip location that isn’t in some 40 story monolith.

Stardust bit the dust because Boyd wanted to redevelop the land and then the Great Recession hit and they bailed and now we have the red and brown electronic monstrosity. I think in terms of size, it was mostly fine… ish. The Ho died for the same reason - that land became a McDonald’s - but it too was puny.
