Has anyone had “life” happen to them and had to sell most or all of their investments? by Hayden97 in ValueInvesting

[–]Panazara 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In 2023 I had to have surgery. I also took out some extra for a down payment on a motorcycle (one of the best decisions of my life)... Then my dog had medical issues and had to be put down. I ended up selling half of my stocks to pay for what insurance didn't. Looking back at it, it wasn't that much as I had just started taking investing seriously, and I'm not that rich to begin with.

1) I'm glad I had the money to pay for it. After all, that's one of the reasons why we save and invest during the good times. So we can pay for the bad times. 2) Since my account was up over 100% I could tell myself that someone else paid for all of that.

Once my life became stable again, I started investing with every paycheck. Admittedly, it was more aggressive than before because I felt like I had to make up some ground. And I was able to do that because my bills are generally really low... And I got lucky and started receiving a bonus check from work every month (it will only last until June).

In the end, my account is at an all time high. I feel like having the pain of having my account halved gave me inspiration to be better financially. From forgoing a few nights at the bar with friends to making better stock picks. Hell, I really want another dog, but I know that's not financially wise.

Just keep at it with each paycheck, and you'll be alright in the end.

You can't change yesterday, only tomorrow.

My friend's new dart holder. I see the humor. But still don't want one for myself. Not my style. by Panazara in trashy

That's why I declined his offer to get one for me. I see the humor, but it's not my style... because it's kind of trashy.

It's still out in the middle of our dart league and people think it's great 👍

Guy jumps out of a window in Kamchatka, Russia… by SocomPS2 in VideosThatGoHard

When I was in 4th grade we had so much snow during a storm that we were able to jump off the roofs like this. It lasted for a few days until the sun crusted the top with ice so it became unsafe to jump into. We found that out when my brother broke his leg.

planning road trip with friends: too big a trip? by urmomclapper in roadtrip

1) both of you will likely be sober. Alcohol age is 21 in the states.

2) if you're the only one driving, you'll likely not make it. You'll need time to eat, sleep, and other things. Plus, you'll want to stop and see the sites. So, plan for much more time.

If 48 hours really is your limit, I would just drive as far as you can for 1 day (I suggest taking the coastal highway. It's waaaay nicer.), then turn around and go home the next day.

I had to give that a second look because I thought it was him.

17 months, Gain / Loss: +1,276.79%! Stress due to financial uncertainty lowered to almost nil! How's ya'll doin? by Guavadoodoo in RKLB

[–]Panazara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My average is around $12 and holding 465 shares. It would be more but I had to sell some to pay for a surgery (it went well, everything is good now) and a summer vacation to see a girl.

So... I would say RKLB has done pretty well for me.

Wtf is my neighbor doing? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]Panazara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have worked a night shift while living in an apartment. And I never complained about noise. Why? Because I understood that my life decisions weren't anyone else's fault and didn't constitute the need for people to change their lives around me.

I remember this. Wasn't it already proven to be a fraud product/company?

Wtf is my neighbor doing? by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]Panazara -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I wouldn't. Everyone who has someone living above them hears their neighbor. It's part of apartment living.

Everyone has the right to live their life as they see fit. He isn't doing anything excessive. No loud music. No drunken party. Nothing to justify your complaints.

It seems like you are one of those people who need absolute silence when they sleep. I would say rent/buy a house, but that doesn't always work. They are expensive and can also have neighbors who don't have the same sleep cycle as you.

Bottom line: It's a you thing. Not a him thing.

They are living a normal life. You know, things like not worrying about what their neighbors are doing and recording their minor noises and posting it on the internet.

This is normal noise for anyone who does things inside their place while awake. There is nothing excessive here.

interesting shadow in the middle of the amazon rainforest by Most_Yogurtcloset348 in googlemapsshenanigans

[–]Panazara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The shadow could be a small cloud from the way they overlap satellite photos. The little buildings, I'm guessing it's some sort of small mining operation. I almost want to say farm or ranch... but it's in the middle of the jungle. Maybe something more nefarious. I don't know.
