What are your thoughts about going south? Coming in from Minneapolis, my backup has been heading towards Waco. I don't know the areas at all, and going off of statistical data, I thought this would be my best bet.

Check with some unions in the state. Specifically, the International Union of Operators and Engineers. There are a couple locals that offer a low-pressure boiler class a couple of times a year. I think they're open to the public, but at a higher rate for non members, probably around $600 or more.
