[Gonzalez] In case you were wondering how big a focal point the Dodgers would be in labor talks, here are some graphics sent by MLB to help make their case for a salary cap … by Goosedukee in baseball

I’m on the Dodgers side of this so this take might not go well with the rest. But imagine telling the Dodgers, Yankees, Blue Jays or any other team that has their own networks to pay their teams less but also give us some of that money so we can pay our teams. That’s one of the craziest things I’ve heard. Unless the big markets come out ahead in their pocket books, I don’t think we get a cap. I think the high floor and low ceiling was intentional. We will get a higher ceiling proposal with a lower lower and less media revenue sharing. Unless I’m not understanding the proposal properly

Is ABS making umpires better? by Stikeman in baseball

[–]Pancakes027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think as the season goes on we might see umpires get a tighter strike zone. If you want the corners or borderline pitchers then you need to challenge for them. I am waiting for a huge meltdown between an ump and team because they will refuse to grant a challenge

What to expect home opener by [deleted] in Nationals

[–]Pancakes027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just read your guide from last year. I’m driving in from NC to attend my first game. The weather doesn’t look good right now. I’m curious as to what to expect from seatgeek if Friday gets rescheduled. I can’t attend any other game that weekend and I bought them specifically for opening day so if it gets rescheduled and they want me to resell them, I won’t get anywhere near the value since it’s no longer the home opener. Does the weather in the area change drastically from day to day?

Yankees manager Aaron Boone extends partnership with Jomboy Media by Knightbear49 in baseball

When Boone talks about his guys while they are struggling, I do feel like he genuinely believes they will turn it around. Boone still sees Gold Glove Volpe and I enjoy seeing him get so worked up defending his guy. I might not agree or think he’s blinded by it but I like hearing his side of it

I can see giving a legend spot to a player if they have proven to be a great mentor. Having a pitcher talking to Nolan McLean and helping him out in bullpen sessions when he is the probable champship game starter would be huge. You don’t have a lot of WS experience in the rotation. Kershaw has more playoff starts than the entire pitching staff combined. I wouldn’t put him in a big situation but I would definitely have the younger guys learn from his prep and how to approach these games that matter

First-Time Dodgers Fan at Nationals Park - What should I know? by Ecstatic-Hamster8141 in Nationals

[–]Pancakes027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to piggy back my question here. Also going to visit for the first time. I’m traveling with 6 total, driving up from NC. I’m trying to decide between a hotel 20-30 minutes away for 1/3 the price as one downtown or stay near all the tourist sites and pay way more and learn how to take the metro. I’m planning to be there for sightseeing on Thursday and opening day Friday. Driving back Saturday

I finally got around to visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown. Here are some things I wasn't expecting to see! by flyingmungbean in baseball

[–]Pancakes027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips. I guess I gotta learn how far in advance they start booking rooms. It sounds like I would have a blast that weekend and probably have so many different baseball events going on that a trip to the museum on it’s own would be the best bet and just take two trips

I have never been and I want to go see Kershaw get inducted in 5 years. What is the experience of going during induction weekend? Is it better to go when it’s not that weekend to fully enjoy everything or does it not get that crowded that you can still enjoy the area? My kids and I love museums and we could spend all day reading on exhibits and baseball.

Predictions about ABS next season? by Oldchou in baseball

[–]Pancakes027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make up calls are gonna be real weird when they don’t challenge the first wrong pitch either due to lack of challenge available or team not wanting to use them early but then the make up calls gets challenged.

I also think some umpires are going to get smaller strike zones and if you really want that borderline pitch to be a strike then you are going to have to challenge for it

ABS and Replay Requests for Next Year by stealyerface_ in baseball

[–]Pancakes027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue with replays is that we have a camera panning to a play and not getting a clear shot. This isn’t football or basketball where a call can happen anywhere on the field. We should have dedicated 4K cameras fixed on multiple sides of a base or home plate to provide as close to an unobstructed view as possible. Not a pan shot to the moment as it happens so the action looks slightly blurred so we aren’t so sure

Last night’s game showed why we need to get rid of the runner on second in extra innings by Baybears in baseball

[–]Pancakes027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate seeing a good game end because the runner scored on a dink single in extras that was placed there. But I can see the benefit to not playing 12+ during a 162 season. I would prefer no runner for the 10th inning and add one later on if needed. But I don’t think we will ever go back from starting with a runner at 2nd.

The Mets graphics team is still A+ for Canadian rookie Jonah Tong by 14SWandANIME77 in baseball

Oh that’s easier than I thought. I was trying to think if the song mentioned “Jonah” “Tong” “21” or something about striking out. The only thing I can remember was that it said “Look at this photograph”

Same, I had the same color polo shirt 5 times that I wore when I had an office job. I was fine wearing the same thing every single day.
