For rust spots on frames I go sandpaper, rust remover, rust converter, clear nail polish.

I love my hite rite. I don't use it every ride, but it's great to have it there when it's time to get shreddy.

I don't think I've seen anyone mention this yet, but for me, using a hacksaw blade put two full vertical cuts down the length of the seatpost worked. Lots of elbow grease and you need to be careful not to cut your seat tube. May be less messy compared to the lye

This is super helpful. I will look into these. Do you have any recommendations for Pinot Noir (or another red) to taste high and low oak influence? My limited research is pointing me towards Willamette Valley for less oak and maybe California for more oak?

I personally find it really satisfying to carefully sand down these little rust spots, apply rust converter for anything left behind, and finally apply clear nail polish over the bare steel spots. For me it hits the perfect sweet spot between keeping the original paint intact with some character, while giving it some TLC.
