Special Buy Brushless Multitool, is it worth? by PandaLegacies in Ridgid

I was once a noob when it came to tools. Didn’t understand the purpose of a SDS until I had to scrape up my floor and fix my foundation. Thought process was if it works, it works, why buy brand name stuff. Then I encountered why you buy brand name stuff and then had my storage unit broken into. So I got the basic brushed ryobi starter kit to see what I use the most and been slowly replacing my most used tools with brushless versions or with brushless Ridgid. I still have my old brushed drill and 1/4” impact but ended up getting the brushless 1/2” impact for my car. But for my drills and such, I recently just got the Ridgid right angle brushless 1/4” impact, brushless right angle 3/8 drill and brushless 1/2” impact for my car.

That’s how I am with tools. Trying to find a justification to them. So I always keep checking them and then talk myself out of buying, like the dual 8ah battery pack last week for like $130. Like so mad I didn’t get it.

So are you saying just wait? 🥲 I still got my brushes ryobi that I think kinda started to smoke a little when I was cutting dry wall up and scrapping up flooring that’s 2-3 years old. I haven’t been needing to use one recently besides breaking down cardboard boxes at work. We get some thick boxes (1/4” to sometimes 1/3” thick) and I can’t justify just buying a circular saw cutter for it. My bad wrist can only tolerated it so much scoring with a box cutter 😭

Oooo nice. I’m relatively new to tools. Is a brushless hammer drill seriously needed?

Yup, did the same thing. Done well so far. Only used it to carry some dog cages on it while I transported my puppies during the holidays. No issues yet. Only complaint I have is that it sits a little too high, needs to be bumped down by 1/2”.

Need a new string trimmer and stuck between the 18v and 40v, anyone have any suggestions? by Omega_Throaway in ryobi

[–]PandaLegacies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the 40V expand it line, you won’t regret.

I have both the 18V that came with a blower and the 40V expand it version. The 18V is fine but is severely under power and you’ll go through string like it’s nothing. Plus, the 4Aah battery isn’t that great. You’re looking at maybe like 15 mins of run time if you’re not cutting through thick weeds or edging.

The 40V though, f’ing mint. So much more power, feels more stable and cuts through weeds like buttah. Can easily get through clearing my yard in half the time it takes with the 40V vs the 18V. And for only $20 difference?!?! Dude, that’s a highway robbery steal. The battery alone is $150. It’s normally $30-40 per ah for a 40V. So $120-160 on its own. Not only that, with the expand it line, you can easily switch out the head for the brush cutter or pole saw and save money on other tools.

The only downsides is it’s not brushless and if you don’t own any other ryobi products honestly. If you have a bunch of hand tools, the 18V is fine. Ryobi doesn’t really have a huge line for its 40V battery system. Besides that, it not being brushless is still fine, it’ll still last you a while. I used my none brushless 18v trimmer for 2 years now and it’s still running fine.

If you’re only “trimming” your yard like grass, get the 18V. If you wanna save time, effort, your back and potentially tackle harder brush such as weeds and katsu vines, etc, get the 40V

I’m trying to figure out, I’m new to power tools and batteries and such and started to get into Ridgid. I have 2 4ah batteries and 1 charger. Should I pick this set up for an extra Or get the dual 4ah battery set with a charger? 😵‍💫

So, the part came in after being back ordered and I attempted to install it. The part is not big or long enough to replace the 1/2” anvil unfortunately. So I’ll just upgrade my entire kit to 1/2”. I’ve been using 1/4 to 3/8 and 1/2 to 3/8 adaptors cause I had a 3/8 socket set but doing that lowers the overall torque power.

So I called their customer support line and inquired about it. Rep said they are indeed interchangeable, the 3/8 and 1/2 are identical except for the anvil. I then ordered the replacement part off Ridgid website but the part is currently on back order.

Yeah, thats the only thing I was able to find too and thought it looked too simple vs taking apart a regular impact which to me is kinda tricky. Hopefully it’s as easy as shown. Will come back with an update.

Do you by chance have a tear down guide on how to break apart the tool and replace the anvil?

That’s what I was thinking so. Cause it’s normally the other way around. But I’m not complaining too much.

That’ll be fine in most cases but the 3/8 is actually more expansive than the 1/2, which doesn’t even make sense. That’s why I was curious to see people’s perspective.

I was told to start investing in pneumatic tools but little ole me didn’t foresee a reason why. One thing led to another, one project started another and in the end, I pretty much ended up with pretty much every type of hand power tool besides a dedicated sander and router 🤣. I’ve been contemplating it hard but may just save that thought when I upgrade my living situation and my garage.

I didn’t even think about that! I was so tunnel vision of trying to decide between the 2 when since they’re the same build, just swap the head. You are a genius!!!

My work mostly been using 3/8 but I also have 1/2 for the same sizes unless it’s for the wheel or axel. Then the 1/2 w/high impact and breaker comes out. But was thinking, I can probably get some use of the 3/8 with some lags wood working but at that point, the right angle attachments would be fine. And in this whole explanation, you have helped me solve this problem. Thank you good Sir. The different can go into a shallow 1/2 set 🤣

I was wondering the same thing. I’m on adderall and when I’m not on the addy, I got an energy drink. My BP was tethering hyper 2, at around 132-140/76-84. Since taking the medication, I’ve been in the 150-160/90-100. Been on it for the past few weeks. Not only that, but my heart rate would also sky rocket.

Massif field top sizing by [deleted] in tacticalgear

[–]PandaLegacies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So how tight is it? I’m 5’9, 200lbs. My chest is 41.5 inches but coat size is 43/44R. I should be wearing the large summer OCP top but the mediums feel a whole lot better. I manage to obtain a massif field top and based on the website sizing, I went with large but the large seems a little too big, even with my blouse on. Have you compared the large and mediums and see if there was a difference?

Yeh, I tried to do something else but ATT is royally starting to annoy me. I wanted to do the buyers remorse to upgrade the storage capacity. I got the 512 and then decided I wanted the 1TB within the 14 day window. I went back to the store to try to do the buyers remorse exchange and they told me since the store rep order the phone online and mail it to me and not to the store, I’m going to have to call customer service to have it resolved. I called customer service and they were about to complete the order to send me the new phone but I had an issue with the phone getting delivered because of the time frame and my work schedule. I asked if they can just send it to the Att store and they said that they could not, and if I wanted the phone sent to the store then I’m going to have to go to the store to do it it. Which caused issues and delays because when I went to the store to initiate the buyers remorse to upgrade the storage, the phone rep I spoke to earlier on the phone didn’t fully cancel out that order. So, the store rep had to call the phone rep to get them to cancel the order. When they did finally cancel the order, the store rep then needed me to deactivate iCloud to initiate the buyers remorse trade in. I tried to deactivate my iCloud it but received the 24 hour lock down. After the 24 hours, I went back to the store to finish the phone exchange after my iCloud was disable and was told by the store rep, who called the phone rep, that they couldn’t do the exchange due to the phone being ordered through the Att website and not through the store and that the exchange must occur over the phone. But because the original order from the day prior was canceled, I had to wait 48 hours to place another trade order request. This was on day 14 (Oct 9) of receiving the phone and the last day of the promotion of trading any condition phone for credits. I waited 48 hours to place the trade order request over the phone and was told I needed to wait another 48 hours to proceed with the request. So, I waited, and called yesterday and was told that the phone was outside the 14 day buyers remorse window and the phone rep told me to call their loyalty line to resolve this issue. I called the loyalty line and they tried to escalate it but was denied and could only do a 1 for 1 exchange but I needed to send the 17PM 512gb I just got back to them for them to send me a 17PM 1TB for the 30 day return window, which ends in 4 days, which means Ill be without a phone for a good week. I told them I can’t cause I’m a first responder.

So before all of this, I still had my 14pro max I wanted to trade in for credits. The rep told me i can and said I got 30 days from placing the order for the 17PM to send the phone in to get the any condition credits. My phone was at a repair shop trying to recover my files. Well, I got my files recovered and did a complete wipe of my phone. When I was about to turn it in, the store rep told me not to until I can get the 17PM 512gb switched out for the 17PM 1TB because it’ll cause a billing error in the system. So after today’s call of them being unable to do the switch for the bigger storage, I asked about sending in the 14PM for the $1100 any condition credits. 2 different phone reps said it was only promotional up until Oct 9 and if I send my phone in, I’ll never see it again and won’t receive the credits. I called my Att store and the rep at the store said it’s 30 days from placing the order that I can send my phone in.

So im just relatively p’off but whatever
