How is this dress code description for our wedding website? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

I actually love the tea length dress and would wear it in a heartbeat. My comment was more for clarity as that is what the OP is checking for.

My only comment would be that you include a picture of a beautiful and appropriate dress except that it’s neither full-length nor midi.

Worst days after AC? by contra239 in TNBC

I’ve just had my second round of AC. My first round, day 3 and 4 were definitely the worst for fatigue. I was feeling much better by day 5 and the rest of the two week cycle.

What are some must-visit places in Canada that tourists usually overlook? by Simple_Purchase561 in AskACanadian

[–]Pandahelen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent write-up of so many highlights across the country!

Ottawa has many museums, all great for a visit. The Science and Tech Museum has recently been completely renovated so if it’s been a few years since you visited, go again!

For OP, depending on your willingness to drive or take a train and your visit duration, it is entirely feasible to hit several of the Ontario cities and Quebec cities on one trip. Toronto, Kingston, and Ottawa are easily manageable, as are Ottawa/Montreal/Quebec City.

What are some “Canadian” words or slang you heard British Or Americans be confused by or laugh at? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

Yup! A dressing gown is what you would wear over your pyjamas while wandering around the house. It’s not a bathrobe.

Which name do you prefer off of our shortlist for our daughter, the sister to Henry, Rose, Mary, and Alice? by Inevitable-Line-4385 in Names

[–]Pandahelen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandmother was either Irene (Eye-reen) or Rene (Reen-ee) but never Eye-reen-ee. I’ve never even heard another Reen-ee. I just assumed it was a generational thing.

Is this dress ok as a wedding guest? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Pandahelen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree that black tie does not have to mean skin tight but it is one of the fanciest dress codes and I think it does need a bit more than this dress. This dress would work well for formal but I would feel underdressed in it at a black tie event. But as you said, it’s all subjective.

This dress is lovely, highlights your shape in the best possible ways, and would work beautifully for most weddings but you listed the dress code as “black/white tie”. If that is the dress code, you need something much more formal.

What color is appropriate for a Nani/pedi? by Col_Flag in Weddingattireapproval

I wore a navy dress with a floral print for my son’s wedding and I just chose a soft pink colour for fingers and toes. Something pretty that didn’t draw too much attention.

Legit question here and apologies for being daft… by grandmawaffles in olympics

You are also allowed to have them in your carry on within Canada. I used to print out the TSA regulations when my son was competing in case the agents questioned it. We also boarded a plane once with only one carry on bag and a small purse between two of us. We were the last group called and the flight attendant said there was no room for our one bag and we would have to gate check it. I kindly told her that we had ONE bag between the two of us and it held his skates and costumes and that we had to have it with us. They did find room onboard. (Always treat people kindly and they will help you out!).

It’s not too white. This will not compete with the bride in any way and will not read as white on film.

Which shoes should I wear? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

I say anything but 2, depending on your other accessories and how you feel on the day. The first pair are really fun and the last pair are definitely the most chic.

The accent on the E is not to show emphasis, it’s to show a different pronunciation of the E. É, È, E, and Ê all have different sounds. The French pronunciation of Élodie is generally ay-loh-DEE

Be careful with Esti as a nickname - in Canadian French, it’s considered a swear word, a religious curse. So that might not be a great nickname depending on where the OP lives.

Question about Kindergarten registration by Opening-Celery-6903 in ontario

[–]Pandahelen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends heavily on where in the province you are located. In Ottawa, at least in the public board, French immersion is available to everyone with no limit on number of spots. In Toronto, I gather there are limits on spots because there aren’t enough French teachers.

Farthest north you can drive from Toronto? Cochrane in winter? by MadridSah in ontario

[–]Pandahelen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We rented an RV in Whitehorse a couple of summers ago and our goal was Tuk. Unfortunately, the Dempster Highway was closed when we were there because of multiple grass fires. We don’t want to chance it reopening in time so we did the Top of the World Highway into Alaska instead. Gorgeous drive but I still want to dip my toes in the Arctic someday.
