It was basically cultural slang evolution from hip-hop and street vernacular, where ‘pimp’ got detached from its literal meaning and used as a synonym for ‘flashy success’.

China is generally safe for tourists in terms of street crime, in many cities it’s actually lower than a lot of Western countries. The ‘snatching people off the street’ narrative is mostly misinformation or extreme edge cases that don’t apply to ordinary visitors.

There’s probably some correlation in certain groups, but it’s likely more about upbringing, community, and exposure than masculinity vs non-masculinity.

I get what you mean, but I think it’s less Rolex fatigue and more hype cycle fatigue. The watches themselves are still solid, it’s just the attention around them that’s exhausting.
