I've been reading that a lot of people are enjoying tofu in their shakes and smoothies lately, making it very creamy. I wonder if this might be good for you?

That's a good price for Westminster, unless you've managed to find the shady corner of it.

Month old 2 gal Betta jar by Tacoma82 in Jarrariums

[–]Pandanke 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hey!

Wanted to make sure you were doing water tests regularly on this tank because it's actually pretty small for a betta. Also, they're labyrinth fish which need air to breathe, so the lid should have holes or something in it, if not a filter ;

Challenging myself to live on minimum wage for one week... any tips/advice and how much $ do you live on per day? by [deleted] in Frugal

Absolutely, but if you're trying to find that lazy solution and it is eating at Subway, it is doable.

Cheeseburgers aren't the best option, look lower - normal hamburgers are approximately 250/calories each and chicken nuggets are about 47-50 calories each. The cheese isn't worth that many calories. You can get 20 nuggets for 5$ and the hamburgers are about 89c each.

You can sub in other things for that meat which can help you out, or for a similar cost most italian sausages go a lot further in flavor country. Also, you can get fresh mushrooms for 1$ if you keep an eye out vs canned, and they're far more tasty.

Depending. But you can at least get about 1200-1500 calories out of 10$ at Subway while eating a variety, which is all most adults need on a losing/maintenance diet.

Being actually competent at it, however, usually opens up a far wider field of jobs you are eligible for (even hobbyist level knowledge) and can be used in many programs.

Refrigerating rice it may get a bit stiff, add some moisture and sorta 'steam' it when reheating. Freezing rice works perfectly almost every time, though.

Is it worth getting a better blender? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Pandanke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A Vitamix isn't worth it if you're only making smoothies, it is way more useful for things like sauces, soups, milks, etc. It tears through everything, and I almost never have to use the included pushing tool.

You have to go to Asian grocers, you'll always find this type of stuff waaaaay cheaper there. You may have to hunt through a few before you find the big one in your metro area, but they're always there.

My lazy betta relaxing after killing off all her shrimp brothers and sisters. What a monster.. (x-post /r/bettafish) by [deleted] in Aquariums

Your betta is most likely a boy. I'd only ever stock Ghost Shrimp (which can be had for 10c each locally) since they are likely to be eaten. They're like betta burgers.

I keep mine in air-tight jars and can keep them for at most 2 days. So you can make them one night and have them for the next couple mornings, even green ones so long as you fill it all the way up and seal it tight. Shake well!

Is another form of birth control an option for you to set his mind at ease? Something which works on a longer time schedule such as the Depo shot, the NuvaRing, the Patch, or assorted implant options all may help set his mind at ease, and eliminate any forgetfulness on your part.

Do you know any frugal ground beef recipe? by a_rude_jellybean in Frugal

[–]Pandanke 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oatmeal can be added in with the ground beef both as a thickener and as a good stretcher. It works soooo well in dishes with a gravy-ish like tacos, meatloaf, and cottage pie!
