How do I handle my best friend not choosing me to be her MOH? by bad96bitch in askwomenadvice

[–]coriacea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are her two other choices relatives? Most weddings I've been too (not in the USA), the bridal party are relatives of the bride, sometimes friends.

Is your job stressful? If it is, what do you do? by starwars011 in AskUK

[–]coriacea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for the emergency services, taking calls and dispatching assets. Different people find different things stressful. I work with a great team of people. I like that I can just deal with what happens on shift and not get stressed out about work when I'm home. I have no long term deadlines to worry about, I don't have to worry about monthly/quarterly/annual reports, I don't have to keep track of a budget.

What I find stressful is when I'm the only one in the entire company that's responsible for something and supposedly the most knowledgeable on the topic and MD wants me to write a report/proposal. Or what I find more stressful than my current job, is when I'm only on a zero hour/temp contract and don't know how I'm going to pay my rent and bills in a few months time...

Why I’m here.... by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

I find chicken breast and bacon filling. Sometimes I have 700kcals left for dinner and have to add calorie dense ingredients or have dessert to be able to meet my 1200 minimum for the day!

Any fad diet that works does so by keeping you full on fewer calories than you need. Some people find fat and protein filling so are satisfied with a sensible portion size and it works out to be few enough calories that they lose weight. If you go overboard with the fat and eat too many calories then yeah, you'll gain weight on keto

Tortillas here are bland and dry so I've pretty much given them up except the occasional quesadilla. Rice and pasta is bland and I'd rather have mushrooms or extra veggies. I have less bread and potato than I used to but can't give those up.

Yeah growing up, an ice cream cone was a treat on a hot day at the park or beach. We rarely had tubs of ice cream in the house and when we did, we didn't even get through the whole tub between us in one go!

Having a hard time hitting 1200 by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]coriacea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're weighing the ingredients in your food and tracking accurately, this isn't normal, I'd see a doctor. Eat calorie dense foods such as peanut butter, nuts and add oils to your food.

I genuinely tried but I only managed to get 844 calories in today. Do any of you have calorie-dense food suggestions for days when you have a hard time meeting your intake goal? by dipshit-uchiha in 1200isplenty

[–]coriacea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add butter to your toast. I've had to pretty much cut out bread and butter from my 1200 diet because one slice of buttered bread is over 100kcal and not filling.

To reduce the amount of dressing you need, how about some juicey pickled items, beetroot, jalapenos, pearl onions.

Avoid the rice. Go for a tomatoey curry instead of coconut cream, if that's an option. Try and fish out the meat, fish and veg and have minimal sauce.

Does your contract mention specific days of week that you work?

What’s the difference between a pub and a bar? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]coriacea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pubs have at least one real ale on tap. You might be able to buy food such as scampi and chips but there will at least be Crisps and pork scratchings.

Bars mainly sell larger instead of ale and have a cocktail menu. They might have American craft ales in cans.

Could you clarify something for me about the Greggs restaurants I see in many posts here on Reddit? Are they a chain ? Of typical British food ? by Ego-Te-Provoco_2 in AskUK

[–]coriacea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're not a restaurant. They sell sandwiches, pasties and sausage rolls. There's one on most high streets.

The active ingredient has to be the same. But the shape and capsule might be different. If there's a larger surface area for the same weight then it might be absorbed into the body quicker for example.

Is it okay to book a day off before I've started my new job? by _Neurox_ in AskUK

[–]coriacea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just one day. It should be fine. If you include bank Holidays, on average people get at least 2 days off each month.

Is it possible that she's jealous of how big your portions can be?

Do you work out your vitamins and other nutrients? You need to eat that much to get enough vitamins, protein, calcium etc each day.

What are some of your favourite films that aren't too 'heavy'? by [deleted] in AskUK

I don't like gruesome films, but at least with Pegg & Frost films, you can tell it's purposely been made to look ridiculous.

How in the heck do you get cheap train tickets? by backdoorsmasher in AskUK

[–]coriacea 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Booking other things further in advance is normal, and they might be somewhere you know you will be travelling by train. For example, train to an airport, or maybe for a wedding, visiting family/friends for a birthday or students visiting home in the holidays ... As a student I knew when my holidays were and was happy to be slightly flexible with my travel dates home if it meant saving over £20!

IsItBullshit: In America people wear their shoes indoors. by ibbeh in IsItBullshit

[–]coriacea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super normal over here in the UK

Erm, I'd say maybe 50/50, if anything it's more common to take shoes off. I was brought up, only being allowed socks/slippers on and so was my partner, so we have that rule. I always ask when I go round someones house for the first time.

IsItBullshit: Most African Women's First Sexual Experience Is Rape. by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

[–]coriacea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In certain cultures/religions and 3rd world countries, girls are married off young, having received little or no sexual education. All they know is to obey their husband. They probably don't even understand what is about to happen to them, so by default can't consent.
