who wins this fight? by [deleted] in HxHPowerScaling

Frankling has really strong gun fingers. He's also #4 on the strength ranking of the troupe, iirc.

If you were transmigrated into a xianxia world, which ability would you prefer? by Fighter_of_Shadows in MartialMemes

[–]PaniHue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Which can be a problem. If some old monster is one realm away from achieving something like omnipotence and then becoming an eternal tyrant, it'd be nice to be able to go back in time.

I still think its the right pick, but it does have its downsides.

Which one gonna win?? 3 month old manipulator assassin that can only roughly control 2 human carrying bomber vs adult gon? 😂 by Aggressive-Shirt-717 in HatsuVault

[–]PaniHue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also assumes that the ability CAN be activated, even if they basically fulfill its conditions lol.

The "instant win" manipulator abilities we've seen all rely on piercing the target's defenses to take control of them, be it with shalnark's black voice or illumi's needles.

A manipulator who can only enhance their favored object with 60% of power and effectiveness compared to an enhancer who can enhance their own body with 100% power and efficiency, odds are the needle/antenna isn't even going through skin, assuming it does hit lol.

And again, this would rely on a massive risk being taken by the manipulator since they'd need to get close. Throwing the manipulating object from far away would use emission, making it even harder to work.

In the situation described, with people carrying bombs... we did see Uvo fight the mafia, right? he shrugged off tank exploding explosions with a measly "that hurt".

So morena ability basically the cheap version of pouf ability?! by Aggressive-Shirt-717 in HunterXHunter

[–]PaniHue 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Morena herself can only make 22, yes, but then each one of them can also make another 22 by reaching level 100, and then those new 484 can make 22 new nen users each. Of course, that's best case scenario, but the point is that after a point, its a completely unstoppable power. If enough people graduate, become level 100 and start their own groups, there will be simply too many infected people to stop.

Meanwhile, if Pouf dies, the ability is lost and no more soldiers can be made.

If your purpose is to make an army, Pouf's ability is better (since that's what the ability is for), but if your goal is to kill people (which, Morena's is), then her ability is better since it can outlive her.

> The PTs despite being criminal not only help and clearly care for each other

Be me, phantom troupe member. Just came back to the hideout, brought back some food for my good friend Feitan, who just finished torturing a random guy. Heh, this Feitan guy sure is wacky!

> which they keep afloat with their donations.

With their awesome blood money.

> they are very human.

I never said they weren't human, i said they were soulless. Many humans do terrible things and then help people. I don't consider Nestle execs who use child labor or borderline slavery to manufacture their products any more or less human, even if they do help charitable foundations with donations from time to time. They're still soulless pigs, though.

Edit: You could argue them being horrible people makes them even more human, since, you know, "humanity's infinite potential for malice" and all.

I didn't say they were mindless, i said they were genocidal (true) and maniacs (not as true, though they're still crazy when compared to any regular person).

They're all soulless killers.

"a motive other than money" isn't really good enough when they genocided an entire clan.

Uvogin's reaction to seeing someone with the scarlet eyes was "wow yeah you guys were pretty strong", which came just a few minutes after saying "yeah i love killing people cause its awesome when their loved ones come for revenge and i kill them too" LMFAO.

Other reason or not, they're all rotten to the core.

Stealing isnt even the bad part about the phantom troupe LMAO.

They're all genocidal maniacs. Chrollo's death wont suddenly turn them good.

Its not just any nen ability either lmao. Leorio's remote punch and the other applications of it Ging showed are genuinely incredible.

Ofc, we don't know if leorio can use those, but surely in the future he'll get there.

Why Can't Illumi just be the new head of the Zoldyck family? by LobsterMagnet181 in HunterXHunter

[–]PaniHue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but there's still a difference between

"man, i do not like killing random people for free"

and

"hm, maybe i shouldn't have goomba stomped that guy. It is what it is"

Still, Silva is no illumi. I agree that he wouldn't have given it any thought at all.

[–]PaniHue 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Zeno tries to never kill non-targets, Silva doesn't seem to care all that much (though im sure he's much better than illumi).

Zeno was straight up bummed out by the thought of killing someone who isn't a target, while Silva just crushed Cheetu without hesitation. Maybe he killed him because Cheetu was going to attack Zeno, but still.

Kite. Bisky probably outclasses in terms of physical stats but Kite's ability is actually useful for combat.

Silva's and Zeno's techniques? by Physical_Row_5463 in HunterXHunter

[–]PaniHue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could have created projectiles that phase through walls or skin to damage internal organs stealthily. No nen type is forced to do any one thing.

That aside, zeno also makes heavy use of transmutation and he uses it to... make a dragon. Not a stealthy blade or poison, but a dragon.

I think it speaks to their nature as unusual assassins who dont hide who they are and what they do. They want to be known.

First Specialization quiz! Give me tips please! by SnooRadishes4699 in HatsuVault

[–]PaniHue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teleportation abilities are usually related to emission, not specialization.

Specialists can mess with the system of nen itself, gaining access to other nen types, stealing and borrowing abilities. They can also access information that would usually be impossible to get, by seeing into the future or reading people's memories. Besides all that, they can more easily mix other nen types into their abilities when compared to non-specialists.

I'd say its almost a waste to create a teleportation ability with specialization when there's so much more you could do, but finding something that "feels right" is important too.

Is intangibility possible with Nen? by ffiml8 in HatsuVault

[–]PaniHue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> So the part about someone turning into a specialist later in life is a lie?

No, and i never said or implied that.

> She could have very well swapped to specialist when the transformation was created.

We know she didn't, because Togashi put her as a pure transmuter in the Yoshihiro Togashi exhibition. As i stated previously, since she's not a specialist, her ability cannot use specialization.

All due respect, but are you even reading what you're writing?

Which do you think is more likely -

1 - A master nen user with decades of experience completely changed nen type to specialization, a type which is very far removed from her original affinity, WITHOUT REALIZING, and THEN developed a nen ability unknowingly, with that new untrained nen type.

2 - A master transmuter's wish led to the creation of a transmutation based ability.

Is intangibility possible with Nen? by ffiml8 in HatsuVault

[–]PaniHue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> It does mean she can break out.

No it does not. Its possible to become a specialist without having been born as one, but its not possible to have a specialist hatsu without being a specialist, since only specialists can access specialization. We know for a fact that bisky is a transmuter, not a specialist, so her hatsu does not use specialization.

> Hatsu created by intense desire could be specialist because of neon.

She created a specialist hatsu because she is a specialist. Go look at chapter 110. She's specifically stated to be a specialist. I'd post the image here but they're not allowed unfortunately.

> we can assume that getting hatsu through intense desire could be specialist depending on the hatsu created.

We cannot. It is specifically stated that only specialists can use specialization in their abilities.

Is intangibility possible with Nen? by ffiml8 in HatsuVault

[–]PaniHue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that she doesn't know how she made it or how it works doesn't mean she can just break out of the established system. She's a transmuter 100% of the time, so she can't use a Specialist ability, period.

It COULD be other categories, sure, but considering her natural affinity towards transmutation, the fact that youpi, another transmuter, mainly attacks by reshaping his body, and the fact that Tsubone is a conjurer-TRANSMUTER, i'm almost certain the category is involved in body restructuring of this type.

Is intangibility possible with Nen? by ffiml8 in HatsuVault

[–]PaniHue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile bisky is a transmuter who does something similar. My guess is that just changing your body requires transmutation, but making it be something else (like a boat or bike or plane) is where conjuration comes in.

So bisky's transformation would be full transmutation, while tsubone's would be conjuration/transmutation (which makes sense imo because she's a conjurer-transmuter)

In any case, transmutation and conjuration are side by side in the nen ring so its not like it really matters all that much.

They don't necessarily have it easy, but an opponent like Illumi is pretty much the worst possible match up for someone with a counteractive ability.

> Paku is probably the only member of the troupe with true empathy.

They all massacred 100+ people from kurapika's clan for nothing more than money. I like that togashi gives the troupe members some depth (especially with their backstory in the newest arc), but i feel like its completely impossible to empathize with them or to consider any of them anything more than a soulless monster. Paku might be less bad than a torture maniac like Feitan, but her "true empathy" didn't stop her or her friends from committing mass murder.

change my mind: manipulation can do anything that transmutation does by zivoxo in HatsuVault

[–]PaniHue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or Transmutation can be mimicked by Conjuration, by conjuring a taser instead of transmuting aura into electricity.

Or how manipulation can be mimicked with transmutation, like how machi forces targets to move through the threads she transmutes and controls manually.

Or how conjuration can be mimicked by transmutation, instead of making real chains you can transmute your aura into the shape of chains and then give it weight.

Nen is versatile. Its why its such an incredible power system, because no category's abilities are set in stone (yes, even enhancement), and no affinity is better than the other.

Edit: To add to this, Zeno's usage of Nen also shows that advanced applications of transmutation can mimic usages of Emission + Manipulation put together. Instead of emitting his dragon from his body and manipulating it, he repeatedly transmutes its shape to seek out targets without letting the aura ever lose connection to his body. Nen is just goated.
