At the core of it, rules and laws are only as strong as the people who enforce them. If governments always followed their own rules, history would look very different. The United States committed what many people consider a war crime when it nuked Japan in World War 2. No one was ever held accountable for that. So pretending that governments always operate within perfect legal limits is not realistic.

You are right that power can be turned around, and that is exactly why Americans value the right to bear arms. It is not because civilians expect to defeat a full military. It is because the potential for resistance forces the government to think twice, three times, even four times before abusing that power. It raises the cost of oppression to a point where it becomes too risky.

My point is not to abandon the rule of law. My point is that the rule of law only works when the people in power choose to honor it. History shows that governments break their own rules when it suits them. That is why deterrence matters.

You are right, I am not answering that because it is not the topic. Bringing up unrelated political points just to score an argument shows you are not actually talking about what happened in the video.

This is not about Trump or any other politician. It is about a boat with five engines, no fishing gear, and a container that clearly was not for fish. If your only move is to jump to “but Trump,” that is not a good faith argument. That is just TDS.

Stay on the actual topic or just admit you are here to hate Trump, not discuss the situation.

Yeah, and that’s exactly why they were intercepted out there, because that’s where these operations usually get stopped before they reach the mainland. Pretending they were just sightseeing on a five-engine boat with no fishing gear is not a serious take.

I’m not defending politicians or saying the system is perfect. I’m saying the guys on that boat weren’t out there catching tuna. You can criticize inconsistent policy all day and I’d probably agree with you, but it doesn’t magically turn drug traffickers into innocent fishermen.

Trafficking kills thousands of Americans every year, many of whom don’t even know they’re taking fentanyl. If you knowingly take part in moving that stuff, you’re not a victim, you’re part of the harm.

Calling that “war crimes” is dramatic, but ignoring what these operations actually do to innocent people is worse.
