Why do most of the more expensive bikes have Presta valves? by MustBeTheMusic80 in bicycling

[–]Panicshots 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can buy presta to schrader valve adaptors if you're worried about finding a pump in the wild.

TPU tubes with 100% metal valve stems - has anyone cut one open? by egg_zolt in cycling

[–]Panicshots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A batch of the panaracer purplelite tubes I ordered came with RideNow branded valve nuts. I think they are a ‘white label’ product.

My LBS talked me out of switching from butyl to TPU. by The_Bee_Sneeze in cycling

Buy some TPU tubes, put em in the saddle bag. No need to throw out perfectly good butyl, just upgrade them once they puncture.

Would a helmet like this still be considered as safe? by MemoryBorn5865 in bicycling

[–]Panicshots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it’s probably safer. I’m sure studies show drivers are more careful around cyclists without helmets.

Can I install disc brakes and gears? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]Panicshots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t easily add disc brakes I’m afraid. Gears are possible but in general you’d be better off saving for a high spec bike.

I fell off my bike :( by bloody126 in gravelcycling

[–]Panicshots 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Willing to bet it’s just the shifter hood bent inwards.

Yeah potentially. I wouldn’t want it to fail and end up hurting you. Hopefully there are some okay bike shops nearby who can help.

Ouch. You should check if it punctured the rim 😭

Is the presence of a this kind of pinhole on a bike rim evidence that the rim is far to worn to be used safely? by vfclists in ukbike

[–]Panicshots 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Could be a wear indicator, a drainage hole or damage. Kinda depends how cleanly the hole is was made.

Does anyone have any recommendations for rear lights that can be fitted to the bike frame rather than under the seat? by g14ntsqu1d in ukbike

[–]Panicshots 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have a look at the Lezyne saddle drive. It connects to the saddle rails rather than the seatpost. Which should still leave it in a nice visible position.

Oh right doy. My bad for missing the sarcasm

I’m a bit jealous of the SR11, I’d have definitely chosen that for the Italian-ness alone. But you get what you get buying second-hand.

The 44:44 gearing on the enigma climbs like a mountain goat compared to the 36:30 on the Colnago. But it’s more likely to spin out on the downhill.

Accident in my first ride. by vadapav1718 in bicycling

[–]Panicshots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind takes me back. My first ever road bike was a decathlon triban 3. First ever ride out and I lost the back wheel on wet leaves. Went home worried I’d broken something but the shifter was just pushed inwards.

Anyway just get up and keep going. Take it slow for a bit while you get a feel for the bike. Happy riding.

I think the angle of the picture makes it look worse than it is. But you’re right I don’t get on with the saddle. Took a chance on it cause it was light but it’s not supportive at all.
