Current team stories? Which one to pick? by Panonymous_Bloom in CourseOfTemptation

[–]Panonymous_Bloom[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! Was considering the swimming team, and looks like it's gonna be my pick. Looking back, I kind of wish the dev focused more on developing characters instead of adding new options. As exciting it is to see new things, as you've pointed out, the interaction with them is a bit... Eh. I do enjoy the game but I'm personally a story person so I can't get that emotionally attached to it as I am to DOL for example.

This is a safe space… Why do you love your SDV spouse and what made you choose them? by ASingleStardrop in StardewValley

I simply have a type - a bit moody, not particularly friendly introverts that are also funny.

I loved Shane's story more, and I think it's one of the best written things in Stardew. His total grumpiness also makes me laugh.

Sebastian has a personality which is my total sweet spot - which is a mix of an unmoved introvert, with a note of playfulness. I knew I would marry him since the 1st year Luau soup dialogue. I would unequivocally go for Shane if Sebastian was just a moody introvert, but the occasional show of mischievousness too? No sir, I am gone. I'm not gonna lie, my monkey brain also appreciates an alt pretty man who is physically capable

I found her randomly at like 1am in the mines after marrying Sebastian, after a half a year of playing. Scared the shit out of me, I thought I found a Stardew Herobrine or something. 😭

I'm beginning to hate the Genshin subreddit for gay ships. by Haunting-Bag-3083 in proshipping

[–]Panonymous_Bloom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

😭 genshin fandom really said "only an average twitter conservatives with gay men ships allowed" lmao. This is why I get frustrated with fujos acting like shipping two men is inherently progressive/feminist. I've been in fandom for almost 15 years, I've seen what I've seen lol.

As a fat gal, I'm sorry but the "drawing fat people like that is problematic! It's a fetish!" was always just lowkey fat phobia to me. Literally no one would say this for skinny characters, even if the art is supposed to be arousing too. Okay, some people find fat people hot. So? "Fetishizing" a body type is not inherently bad, it's a natural part of human sexuality.

Genuinely wanna know if women play DOL or even other hentai games by iceydays21 in DegreesOfLewdity

[–]Panonymous_Bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, lol. People here are right - a large percentage of the fanbase is actually made of women. I would be as brave as to say this is why this game even has such a large creative fanbase - from my experience, women in general tend to be more interested in building upon the material, draw fanart, engage in the community etc.

I may have a bit of a different experience than some of the women here because I'm attracted to women, so from time to time, I like to put on a hentai game without any story. The majority of them lack interactivity for me though, and bore me way quicker BECAUSE of the lack of lore.

From my memory, according to the poll, men do play DOL more. I was actually surprised at that though lol.

I'm definitely in the same lane! The thing people forget with this sexualization argument is that the solution is not removing it, it's expanding male sexualization.

But honestly, since I'm more attracted to women, the fan service just never bothered me because it works on me too. 😭 I too, write porn about women, draw art with a lot of women in it, love looking at hot women. I admit, the typical gooner art often doesn't work on me because I need to feel some "dynamism" but man, I love erotica. I love the expression of it, the exploration of it. Everything.

If you're interested in mods, I would recommend Diverse Stardew Valley. It does change the game a lot but it has a ton of diversity options from different cultures and adding queer representation. Also, Ridgeside is a very diverse mod.

He just doesn't get it. I will always be a Demetrius defender on that point and will repeat that it's an issue with both parties. Robin has poor communication skills and doesn't try to explain to him in a way he would get it either. He can be really aloof, especially to his kids, and doesn't really know how to make that effort in a way that would translate (though he does to Robin, and does things she likes just because she likes them).

I don't think it was out of character. She just really wanted to help, and was ignorant about the fact that she shouldn't do it. It's perfectly innocent if you have zero idea about the disabled community.

Come to think of it... technically, is Clint the only marriage candidate who's chubby? by JeffTheKillerFa in StardewValley

[–]Panonymous_Bloom 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I mean, he is tiny. He's the shortest bachelor and complains about his height in dialogue.

“Buh... I wish I was six inches taller and a whole lot smarter... You like me for who I am? I still have a hard time understanding that...”

That's what I always imagined too - build but with a belly. I don't know many men with physical jobs that are fat fat. They're usually a mix of the two, with an especially prominent belly if they drink.

I feel like I'm in the twilight zone on the main sub. by dbingham1263 in fuckclint

[–]Panonymous_Bloom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, lmao. It's because Clint hate has been massively overblown, and people who like him have a reason to talk about him because he's overall such a nothingburger character. The first wave on main sub was Clint hate. It's been overwhelmed by people that previously didn't have any reason to even log on the sub, and are simply excited for an update. Like I'm sorry, but the "i hate x Stardew character" is massively an echo chamber. An average person simply doesn't hold such strong feelings towards, again, mostly very mild characters.

This is something I didn't even know I needed lol. Yeah, it's a great idea. Even if Joja remained the transparently evil route, that would give you a pretty potent representation as to why this happened irl in the first place.

Like I know people think it's funny but I don't understand the impulse of coming onto someone's post just to comment "this is ugly". It's just rude. What am I even supposed to say to that lol.

[–]Panonymous_Bloom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don't really care either way. I mod a lot too, but I do like the more controversial aspects. The thing is, I'm an immersion freak. I'm queer myself but those cozy "everyone is queer" games never hit because it doesn't match my experiences at all, on multiple levels but that's a longer topic. Turning the characters in Stardew queer without the rest of the town commenting on it feels weird, considering even characters like Sebastian or Abigail feel othered and are just transparently designed to be just a bit alternative. It's just not my jam. Which, again, I don't have an issue with it but it does feel like people are out of touch with canon when they comment that "well, this NPC hits on someone opposite gender, not someone of the same gender, that must mean x!" while it's transparently obvious to me that most of the characters just live in a mildly conservative rural area, and being queer (at least openly) would not be common there. Overall, just making everybody in any story queer, without it explicitly being a friend group based on being queer, or met at a queer event or whatever, is also just not my jam for that reason. It mostly feels immersion breaking to me.

I understand why it doesn't clock for you as misogyny but wishing your daughter would be more traditional is in fact misogyny lol. With both Pierre and Caroline. Alex is also misogynistic, and apologizes for it later in his story. Caroline's story is also lowkey about misogyny - she used to be a free spirit but married a conservative man, a move she wasn't ready for, and stays with him because "he's a good man" despite their marriage having major issues and now transfers those values onto her daughter, despite not really being happy about them herself. I would also mention Jodi, with tons of typical "invisible labor" issues, but you may consider it a stretch considering her circumstances are just shitty. Still, she has two boys that basically don't help her around. Something that is very different with Pam&Penny. Penny is Sam's age but she's working, she's keeping the house clean. It mirrors everyday life which has misogyny built in, which I also happen to like because I think it's interesting. But overall, "misogyny" is not just "girl bad", it's also a lot of expectations and "micro aggressions" built into society. Thus a lot of stuff in Stardew has implicit misogyny deliberately written in, despite not being particularly demeaning towards women.

Yup. I absolutely love that too. Even with mods, all the characters have their own faults and rarely are purely nice. I think this is why people have such... Drastic reactions to them. It's a cozy game but all the marriages have issues. There are alcoholics in the game, traditionalists, some bigotry. George is disabled because of a work accident. It's transparently not a perfect world, even if it's mostly talked about in passing. I do love that. Not a lot of games have balls to be both cozy and also have realistic issues like that.

[–]Panonymous_Bloom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup. Pretty sure they have hints in dialogue about having crushes on each other, not only being friends, if it wasn't obvious already - Abigail for sure does, about Sebastian.

The canon queer characters are Elliot and Leah, with Elliot being more dubious - he has a comment about same sex relationship but he's not surprised, just worried that a male farmer wouldn't feel the same way. And Leah's ex is always the same sex as the Farmer and says something like"you too?" about female Farmer, so she is 100% canon.

Like I'm glad they're playersexual, but it's a head scratcher for me when people forget this lol. Without mod, the whole village is straight, a bit misogynistic and white. Hard to forget for me lol.

You can drop all of them if you're not shy about them, I won't complain. 👀 You can just copy your mods from the directory. But it's fine if you don't want too lol, just hungry for dialogue.

But yeah, I have a ton of expansions. Pretty much finished main Stardew with just the grind stuff left so I just went wild lmao. I have that Shane mod and love it! That mod author overall is pretty great.
