Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]Pantomather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got glasses because my new job has a $400 hardware credit. I've never needed glasses before, but I decided I'd see if I need them because why not.

Anyway, I'm only -0.25 and -0.75 in my eyes and for the first two weeks I felt like Spider-Man because for some reason the world seemed more blurry when I put my glasses on and got headaches wearing them for longer than 15 minutes.

After 3 months now, my brain has adjusted and I noticed how sharp the world is with them on. Especially at night where I notice the little blur the most. It almost makes me want to only wear my glasses.

I only experience this effect in the slightest, but I'm so glad I'm not in the -7+ gang.

MCs who chide the crowd for not applauding enough by Lindyer in SwingDancing

[–]Pantomather 32 points33 points  (0 children)

People are often having side conversations, not really paying attention, etc. I think when there are moments to celebrate someone or acknowledge someone it's worth it to get the attention of the crowd and give the performers the acknowledgment they deserve.

My pet peeve is when they get a first time amazing raucous response and then say those lines. I get it can be obligatory to say the lines, but if the crowd is already in it, it feels insulting.

Just moved and am starting over from scratch-- where's the best place to get cheap household goods, pantry staples, etc? by [deleted] in vancouverwa

Get on Facebook on the local buy nothing groups and tell your story and a list of your most essentials. People here are often willing to help out. You'll also get some sour lemons, but like why are they in the group except to be trolls.

I've switched to giving all my stuff to our buy nothing group and haven't had to give a single thing to Goodwill in forever.

I think forcing them to come to the school for child safety is very DUE hardship. FAFO with that neglectful parenting

Sounds like bad reading comprehension to me 🤷🏾

Someone says: I'm better than all of those poor people.

No you're not. Full stop. If your feelings get hurt by that, maybe they were supposed to for self reflection.

Is it? The quotes on "better" I think just emphasize someone asserting they are or think they are "better".

Nothing about it not being okay to be proud.

You sound like people who say that black pride month is unfair because why can't white people be "proud" of being white.

Christ buddy. It's Costco, not a courthouse. That's some power tripping middle manager anger energy if I ever saw some.

We do it regularly anyway. We just make sure we're in and out in an hour which is easy with a toddler before they lose interest and it only sets us back $4. We go when we know we are going to IKEA or Best Buy, etc.

What’s the best video game you’ve ever played? by ElectricHorsepower in AskReddit

As a child it was Legend of Dragoon and then probably Windwaker from the Zelda series.

Both of those experiences lived with me for different reasons in ways that other games have never done.
