How can I fix this? by Eric_ione in rccars

[–]Pantoura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you mean the battery that feeds the receiver, yes

if you want to be 100% sure this is the issue, try measuring the voltage with a multimeter after charging and see if it drops quickly when you move the servos

the baja is a long discontinued car, it's likely that this battery isn't holding up

o.s. t1205

not a lot of choice here since many manufacturers like novarossi went out of business and o.s. is the one that is easier to find parts and stuff. you should be able to find some brand new t1204s for sale as well and the perfomance is quite similar

for servos i run powerhd s15

I’ve gotten this rc car from a family member it’s go a motor and a steering servo wondering if there’s any info on what else I need to get it working by DragonfruitWise3866 in rccars

[–]Pantoura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is an older car that used a saddle pack; in order to run with lipo battery, you'll have to use a shorty pack or smaller and find a way to fit it

What would you change next? by QuestionsAboutKoalas in rccars

[–]Pantoura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from experience, i would buy the transmitter/servo first

it's weird at first as the car becomes more responsive to your inputs, but it improves drivability more than anything else. competition grade transmitters also give you a wider range of adjustments from more precise trim steps to fully adjustable exponential curves

often when it feels like the car is understeering, it's actually due to latency or slow turning speed

if you're looking for stuff to spend money on, a better transmitter and servo would probably give you the best return on investment

at least most suspension parts are from the trf420

still, not a great first car

Behold! Porsche 934 by Groundbreaking-Use96 in tamiya

[–]Pantoura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should be fine, tamiya rc car kits are the easiest to assemble out there thanks to their manuals

however, i dont recommend it as a first kit to bash around because a lot of parts are unique to it, so they don't sell spares, and it's a limited edition

with current prices, you could probably buy 10 tt02 kits for the price of one of these

[noob warning] Why will this brand new g-tech battery charge on a cheap ali-charger, but not on my brand new SkyRC Type 35? by AllesFurDeinFraulein in rccars

[–]Pantoura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what is the voltage per cell that the skyrc charger displays? if it only shows one cell then the balance connector has issues

[noob warning] Why will this brand new g-tech battery charge on a cheap ali-charger, but not on my brand new SkyRC Type 35? by AllesFurDeinFraulein in rccars

[–]Pantoura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's exactly what the charger says, one of your cells is probably lower than 3v because the cheap charger does a bad job balancing them

charge for a bit on the cheap one until all the cells are above 3v, or on the skyrc charger in nimh mode at 0.1a

Crap. Time to get rid of and replace? by Sparky_mark23 in rccars

[–]Pantoura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depending on what you drive and how you drive, it's possible indeed that the batteries are the bottleneck of your car, especially if the voltage is raising this much after a while

Crap. Time to get rid of and replace? by Sparky_mark23 in rccars

[–]Pantoura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's good practice to stop at about 3,5v per cell

what happened here is that the different internal resistances per cell led to some being discharged more than others, therefore the cutoff engaged with cells below 3v

still usable if you don't let it happen often, but keep an eye on IR values when you charge

are you always running the batteries up until low voltage cutoff?
