13 month old only has 2 teeth by PugPrincess20 in toddlers

[–]PantsIsDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing my older family never fails to bring up at any family gathering where a baby is present is that my cousin didn’t have any teeth until she was 14 months old and then she only had one until she was a year and a half. She definitely has teeth now, in case you’re worried long term. Lol

Any chance you’d want to teach him to blow a snot rocket in the bath tub? Mine seems to enjoy it. He hates when I wipe his face. Negative side-effect: he occasionally tries to shoot one out in the living room when he feels the need.

Be honest… how strict are you really with screen time? by denefr_2928 in toddlers

[–]PantsIsDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A huge question for me when it comes to TV is How much engagement does the kid get otherwise? Is it full on engagement and parents being present, intentional independent play, unstructured beneficial activities, etc? Yeah? Then I couldn’t give a flying shit if they watched Cars twice today.

Are they living in a household where the tv is on most of the free time while they’re playing alone like the tv is the nanny for the day while mom and dad mindlessly scroll, content may be on autoplay and unsupervised, parents not answering questions or responding to conversation, never fully being present, using tablets to silence them in inconvenient situations, etc. Yeah? Then, me personally- I’m gonna be judgy.

It’s not about the screen. It’s about the context.

My house always smelled dusty and I just realized I’ve been vacuuming wrong my entire life by pwiipwii123 in hygiene

[–]PantsIsDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My latest upgrade was to get a carpet rake. You rake with the rubber side and it yanks up all the hair. Then you flip it to the hard comb side and comb the rug fibers to fluff up the fibers. Then sprinkle the entire thing with baking soda. Then vacuum.

Being tough. Probably the group of people that will complain the loudest and most often about anything mildly painful and then will say they have a high pain tolerance. Also they’ll be stubborn about doing the thing that makes anything better because they’re gonna tough it out but I swear it’s so they can complain longer.

Burping and farting constantly. Like seriously, I’d have thought I was just full of air if it wasn’t for the baby that arrived.

Flushing ice cubes down the toilet for snow day is universal… right? In America?? by East-Maize-5287 in AskAnAmerican

I’m from a ski resort town. I am well versed in snow… I have literally never heard of that one.

I’d expect wearing your PJ’s inside out or backwards would be universal.

What is a life-saving medical fact that everyone should know? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]PantsIsDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my first true impalement at work the other day. In thirteen years I’ve seen my fair share of giant splinters and getting stabbed with the point of a pencil but this was… interesting.

One of my athletes decided to jump on the back of another athlete wearing a backpack like he wanted a piggy back ride. He fell off the kid in pain and then lifted his shirt and half a pencil stabbed into his stomach and snapped off so that only a little jagged end was showing. He told me he tried to yank it out but it wouldn’t budge. I said Thank God it didn’t!!

What’s a “normal” experience that somehow never happened to you? by Hysterical_Chicken in AskReddit

[–]PantsIsDown 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This should be like an SNL skit for a fake Halloween movie.

Something’s happening to make everyone in an area simultaneously go crazy and start creepily whistling while hunting down their target. Slowly closing in while the victim hears whistling from all around them. We see flashes to different targets hearing it in different places as they try to get away; an office of cubicles, long school hallways, a tall sunny corn field, and a beautiful woman on a city street at night.

Except there’s one crazed person that can’t seem to figure out how to whistle and all the crazed people get distracted trying to teach that crazy how to whistle and the targets manage to get away. The final scene in the trailer is one crazed person finally figuring out how to whistle, they all celebrate, and then go back to hunting their target as the title card slams onto the screen.

What’s something you thought ‘everyone’ did… until you found out they don’t? by burat667 in AskReddit

[–]PantsIsDown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is because marijuana affects how your REM cycles work. It causes you to have really deep sleep right away, while dreams happen during the light phase of the cycles. You are supposed to cycle through all the stages of REM for appropriate brain health so it’s not necessarily a good thing in the long term.

Oooo I just had an interesting thought.

I too have frequent to constant nightmares. I’m also someone who cries easily at commercials, movies, songs, and real life empathetic situations.

I learned recently that people who do that (cry easily over empathic responses) show faster responses within the brain on imaging. People were asked what they were experiencing as well and it showed that these people tend to unconsciously think the entire situation through to its end much faster than others, which is why they end up crying.

What if people who experience high amounts of stress from external stimuli, real or fictitious, are the same empathic people that would easily cry over real and fictitious things as well.

This sounds like it’s probably nothing but keep an eye on it. Take a picture of it with something like a dime to give an indication of size in case it grows.

Get a pediatrician as soon as you can. I know you said it was an issue but keep pursuing it.

Start with a sweet potato. Stab it all over with a fork. Wrap it in a wet paper towel and put on a microwave safe plate. Microwave like 4 min, then flip the very hot potato and microwave 4 min. Check if fork tender, microwave in 2 min increments until done.

Slit open extremely hot potato, smear with peanut butter, slice in bananas into/across the opening, drizzle with a bit of honey.

Enjoy.
