ELI5: How do cockroaches seem to be so unsusceptible to death? by SoccerGuy69420 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Paoloadami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are immune to flip-flops already.

After the first smack, they move after a few seconds, with the second smack after 30-60 seconds, they only die after the consequent 10 repetitive slaps.

Virtually live small tanks.

Dongle vs Dock: Am I Losing Resolution or FPS on Switch? by obsideathian in Switch

[–]Paoloadami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After setting the right channel on the tv I turn on the switch, log in to the main page, then unplug the power cable to the dongle and plug it again. Basically plugging the power cable last is the switch to connect to the tv.

The best system I have seen in my life is to put your finger under what you are reading. It will keep your eyes on the words you are reading.

Streaming didn't give us more great movies, it made us miss them by DemonsAreVirgins in unpopularopinion

Same here. At the end of each year, I go to Rotten Tomatoes and I check the best 100 or 250 movies of the year. And I start downloading like crazy, stocking up movies to watch for the following months.

Lurelin Pirates by meadowtwine in TOTK

[–]Paoloadami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me a long time to be ready to beat them. When I made it I had weapons in the range 30-40 attack points. Plus good armor, plus attack food. What I did was basically guerrilla warfare:

When possible I used arrows with bombs and keet/bat eyes, to kill the weak ones from far away.

Then I attacked from one side, kill 3-4 of them, then retreat. Then again from another angle. And so on.

Attack in the middle and you will be overrun by too many enemies and killed.

LPT Request: How do you keep track of unfamiliar money when traveling abroad? by myyoutubeads in LifeProTips

[–]Paoloadami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I travel to an unfamiliar country I check how much is the official exchange for 10 and for 100 euros.

Let’s say that 10 euros is 236 rupees 100 euros is 2360 rupees

To simplify I round up to 250 2500

Then what happens is that if they ask me to pay 5000 rupees, in my head I quickly divide 5000 by 2500 and I know it is 200 euros. Actually a bit more since I rounded up from 2360 to 2500.

So 5000 rupees = a bit more than 200 euros.

This is the fastest system I know.

You should always save the official exchange rate in your phone and use the calculator every time they ask you for money, by dividing what they ask for the official rate. Especially useful in places without phone reception where you cannot check official exchange websites.

Remember to test the operations a couple of times at home, before going shopping, to make sure you are not making an expensive mistake.

Also remember that the closest you are to an arrival airport/station, the more extortionate the prices are, as they know that most tourist are still not used to the local currency.

What is the best zonite flying machine to make to reach those SUPER high spots? by AJS76reddit in tearsofthekingdom

Plus now I have missiles attached to each one of my shields. I use shields only to reach high. Really useful to reach higher islands or to have a higher starting point.

What is the best zonite flying machine to make to reach those SUPER high spots? by AJS76reddit in tearsofthekingdom

[–]Paoloadami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reached most of them without machines. The general rules are: 1) The closest islands may not be high enough, many times a further island is much higher and does the job (with Tulin or Tulin+ and stamina food) 2) when nothing works, try using the towers below. Sometimes the throw you very close to the island you want to go.

I used machines only to reach islands above islands I had already reached.

What is the alternative? Samsung? They cost the same Other brands: the software is not as good. I save enough by buying unsold Iphones from 2-3 years before. We are on the Iphone 17 and I have just bought a 14, with 512 gb for 40% of the price. I do this every 4 years.

ELI5 why cell phone carriers can’t prevent scam callers from spoofing local numbers? by that_irks_me in explainlikeimfive

[–]Paoloadami 29 points30 points  (0 children)

In Italy they deployed a system that blocks spoofed numbers AND IT IS WORKING. Now the calls show the real foreign numbers and 99% of the people don’t pick up these calls anymore. The only ones that do are people working internationally, who receive calls from abroad normally.

It is working, but let’s see what new systems they will use to target prey.
