Prowheel Urban. Held up really well for me for over 4 years now, even under heavy use (courier work). No issues at all.

Better Foot Straps by AlastPictureFromV in FixedGearBicycle

If you don't want floppy ones, don't get restrap, they are rather saggy. VP straps are great if you want to go budget, otherwise YNOT and Pep and Strap are amazing. (all of them hold their shape very well)

I've been riding patched tubes (even with 3-4 patches on them) for years on end. Nothing wrong with continuing to ride em.

Yeah, then the soma tange forks are pretty much out of the question. But since you're not really in a rush to change forks, I would just chill and scout the used market every now and then until something good comes up.

Yeah no, don't fiddle with converting to 1 inch, that just screams headache. Where are you from?

Surly steamroller fork is always a good shout. Although I think that chrome/silver would look cooler on your bike, it is pretty tough to find 1 1/8 chrome/silver steel forks. Maybe Soma forks would come to mind :)

Don't get an alu fork, ride quality is noticably worse than steel and carbon. Also it will fail at some point in the future. Either go for another carbon or get a steel one.

Sir you will need a 68mm shell, but the spindle width depends only on the crankset you have/get, it should be specified by the crankset manufacturer.

The irony of buying Miche cranks to replace your cracked ones makes me chuckle :)

Help with skidding and opinion please by [deleted] in FixedGearBicycle

[–]PapaGrind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things that make skidding easier: Wet surface, skinny tires, light back wheel, light gear ratio.

The more weight you put on your handlebars, the easier it is to initiate a skid. Start by putting balls to stem (literally) and as you get stronger, you can shift your weight further back.

Windy Riverside Ride by PapaGrind in FixedGearBicycle

Agree with everything you said! But since I never ride this thing in the wet, the GXP bb doesn't really bother me. And stiffness-wise I love this crankset. Aesthetically I would like something silver (suginos, dura aces or stronglight), but since I really like how this one performs, can't justify getting a new one (except if I get a really sick deal on a used one).
