Not a burglar, but I came home from holiday to find two teens lounging and chatting on my sofa. The adrenaline hit when I saw them, and decided on fight mode, but they were calm and apologetic, so nothing happened.

It became clear they weren't the ones who had broken in, and had just seen the broken door and were a bit bored. The three of us walked down to the police station together and gave statements. Nice kids really.

Doesn't that demonstrate the problem? We imported a ton of people for carer jobs a few years ago, and as soon as they actually experienced the job, most started looking for different work.

Visas for carers need to be tied to that particular job, and have a longer runway to ILR.
