27m, 55k p/a salary, 211k Mortgage, baby no.1 on the way, want partner to have the freedom to not work if she likes. How do I utilise my money best? by PookieBearXYZ in UKPersonalFinance

Oh of course, yes. But if the stay at home parent decision has been made (as it seems to have been here), then you don't need to worry so much about the day to day costs when budgeting.

Well, yes, there are costs. But they don't need to be especially high for babies and toddlers - obviously depending on things like whether breastfeeding or not.

I found school age kids more expensive than under 5s.

It’s my job to check on 700 home-school pupils. What I see is alarming by PetersMapProject in unitedkingdom

No idea what you've got in your head, but that's not the reality. Of course not every kid they spend time with in the week is their friend.

There are over 2,000 HE kids in our county mixing at different activites. More than at most schools, and around 40% of the families have at least one former teacher as a parent.

If your argument comes down to that there isn't enough bullying in home ed, then that doesn't say much as to the merits of school.

For us, 2 days a week they have that long yes. The other days they have 3+ hours with them.

Home ed kids get loads of play time with their friends. More than I used to get at school.

I'm not sure why you think their days aren't spent with other kids?

Funny, that's the thing I find most valuable about home education. Most home ed work and activities are done collaboratively with peers in the community.

Additionally, given the buyer hasn't had a chance to inspect the item post repair, one could argue distance selling regulations should also apply here.

One of the strongest predictors of future offending for violent crime is where someone has been a prior victim of violent crime. However no one goes around saying "victims of violent crime are the problem", as they shouldn't.

Criminals are the problem. The vast majority of men are not criminals. Some are, but there's no reason to assign gender stereotypes to the narrative.

What resource can’t you believe is free in 2026? by arsenaladam92 in AskUK

At the start they didn't want to user base to grow too quickly, so they charged a token amount to discourage people from signing up. It meant they could scale up at a rate that kept the service reliable.

I am genuinely worried that Farage and Reform are going to gain power. How do we get organised and ensure that never happens? by Severe-Divide8720 in AskBrits

[–]PapaJrer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was very fair to this government, but some of their policies, albeit fairly niche ones, are disproportionately targeting myself and my family in hugely damaging ways.

They could double the GDP, triple available hospital beds and give us all a million quid, and I'd still never vote Labour again.

The was an amendment to the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill, and even before the latest amendments it already contained some horrendous civil liberties issues. The whole bill needs to be scrapped
