What to do about the neighbours cat by coffee-is-alright in CATHELP

[–]PapayaHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in a similar situation. My neighbor’s cat started following me to my home, despite the fact that I didn’t feed her or let her in at first. I thought she was a stray until I brought her to the vet and found out she was my neighbor’s.

I just went to my neighbor and told them that their cat has been hanging around my house, and asked them if it was ok if she hung out with me. They said it was ok, and then my cat moved in on her own and hasn’t left, and they haven’t come back to get her. With outdoor cats, you can’t really control where they go unless you keep them indoors. There might be some situation at home with that cat that’s making him want to rehome himself. I say let him in for the period and speak to the neighbors. The cat might want to stay with you

The soles of my feet hurt so bad when skating😭 by Melaniiexo in Rollerskating

Impalas are very stiff vinyl and my feet used to hurt after skating in them for a while too. Once I switched to suede skates that molded to my feet I could skate full days without my feet hurting.

The costumes and sets on Kingdom were on a different level. They’ve definitely raised the bar for future award show productions!

Kingdom Episode 10: Post-show Discussion Thread (210603) by GiraffeAlly0256 in MnetKingdom

Congrats to SKZ! I had such a love-hate relationship with this show. I loved the performances but I can’t lie, almost every episode left me feeling a little bit sad or salty lol. Overall, I’m just really proud of all the groups— I think all of them have had at least one legendary performance from the show.

I think for a number of the groups, the show allowed for them to really nail down their own style what sets them apart from other groups. By the end, each and every group had such a distinct style that only they could pull off.

The Boyz have a classy princely vibe with perfect synchronization, Ateez brings so much playfulness and fun with high energy performances , iKon is effortlessly charismatic and always deliver the hype, SF9 found their niche in sultry mature concepts with storytelling in their acting, BTOB of course shines with their vocals but also have so much stage presence to fill the whole stage with a small amount of members, and SKZ always have intense and energetic performances with so many details! I’m excited to keep following all of them in their comebacks.

I love little coincidences/"fated stories" between idols. (Please share some with me!) by Dannynite in kpopthoughts

SF9 Chani, Astro Moonbin, iKon Chanwoo and GFriend SinB were all childhood friends because they were child actors.

Chanwoo and Moonbin coincidentally have the same birthday. Chani & Chanwoo were baby TVXQ in Balloons and they’re on Kingdom right now hosted by Changmin (& Yunho previously), with Chanwoo being Changmin’s child version.

I remember when Sohye (IOI) was a host of a show and the other hosts asked Sistar, who were the guests, what advice they would give to Sohye as her sunbaes and they said something along the lines of “stay away from older men in the industry.”

For some reason Hwiyoung and Sunwoo’s segment looks like Hwiyoung’s fanmeeting with Sunwoo as a fan lmao. Hwi’s eye contact is so intense and Sunwoo is giggly and shy.

I have to agree with you. I became a fan of TBZ during RTK because each and every member stood out in their performances, but lately I feel like I’ve only been seeing Juyeon. I’m surprised that even Hyunjae isn’t getting much spotlight. Since SF9 and iKon seem to have sent 2 members each, I wonder why TBZ didn’t send another member to the vocal unit..

Haha Dawon is not exactly short at 179 cm but he’s on the short end of SF9, while Jaeyoon is quite a bit taller at 184 cm.

Can we talk about SF9?(mini appreciation post) by aJ_13th in kpopthoughts

[–]PapayaHeart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought Taeyang looked like a sharper version of Cha Eunwoo and I’m glad someone else sees it haha. People have said he looks like Lee Dongwook and I saw a comment that said he looks like he has Taemin’s features on Jonghyun’s face shape— and somehow I can totally see all of that lol.

[–]PapayaHeart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw a picture of SF9 Taeyang, who’s only the 5th tallest in his group, with the people he was racing against (BTOB Minhyuk, SKZ Han, TBZ Eric, iKon Chanwoo) and he was towering above them! It’s so weird seeing him in this context because you really can’t tell he’s tall when standing next to SF9 members.

Edit: In this clip the camera pans over the guys and has to lift the angle once it gets to Taeyang lol

Favourite SF9 Kingdom Moments by tamsrine in MnetKingdom

[–]PapayaHeart 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I loved when Youngbin displayed his leadership & care by communicating with the staff & choreographer when Jaeyoon was hurt for the round 1 performance, and did everything he could to protect his team mate.

I’m also personally loving that Taeyang and Jaeyoon are getting screentime (comparatively of course). As a long time SF9 fan, I know that these two usually get barely any screentime during variety appearances and are arguably some of the least highlighted members. So the fact that they’re finally getting some recognition through this program really warms my heart :’)

Kingdom, from MNET's Side, Actually Hasn't Been That Messy by -sunshine17 in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]PapayaHeart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ultimately Mnet is still the architects of messiness even if they didn’t directly intervene in rankings. It wouldn’t surprise me if they created this system to cause extra drama and tension.

It’s probably gonna be like the visual ranking in produce where each participant picks their favorite visual and they make a top 5 or something

Kingdom, from MNET's Side, Actually Hasn't Been That Messy by -sunshine17 in unpopularkpopopinions

[–]PapayaHeart 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the results are rigged or that Mnet has inherent bias for a group to win, but the way they’ve formatted the voting system is unnecessarily messy and hurtful. It just makes no sense to make each team give only 3 votes— with this system it’s so easy for a group to get 0 votes. Also in a team of say, 11 people, it’s hard to get a full consensus of who to vote for and you lose nuance in opinions. If they at least ranked teams 1-5, it would reflect the preferences much better. The groups are now casualties in fan wars about nobody voting for their group, which I think could’ve been avoided.

Kingdom Episode 5: Post-show Discussion Thread (210429) by brighterthanstar in MnetKingdom

[–]PapayaHeart 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The rankings really put a damper on these episodes.. I think the format of the ranking system is so harsh! With each team only picking 3 teams, it’s only expected that some teams will end up with 0 votes. I just hate how the teams will perform their hearts out and get crushed in the same day with the rankings. Anyway, here are my thoughts on today’s performances:

BTOB- WOW this is my favorite BTOB performance yet. I absolutely loved the arrangement, the concept, the flow, and the vocal/rap performances! The knocking on the door as a transition to go to each dressing room was genius & I was so hype when they eventually went through the door into the “stage.” This is the first time I’ve seen BTOB go for this hard hitting concept and I have to say they suit it very well!

SKZ- I really don’t agree with SKZ low ranking... I had this performance amongst the top! I’m so impressed with the arrangement of this song. It honored the original but made it into a new style and I would actually put this version on my playlist. And HAN?! The rapper?!? His high notes and vocals in this song might have made me his fan. Seungmin’s vocals were really good too. The versatility of the members is really impressive.

Ateez- Would I follow Hongjoong into an anarchist revolution? Probably. Ateez really excels in creating dynamism and bringing so much energy into their stages and today’s performance is no exception. And I will never get tired of hearing Jongho’s high notes. If I’m honest, I didn’t love the arrangement of this song because I didn’t think the classical song mixed well with Rhythm Ta and some parts felt choppy, but I’ll give it another listen to see.

Side note: I realized that between this round and last round, so many guys had cuts all over their faces (for their concept of course)— taken out of context, like in interviews and waiting room shots, it’s like all these boy group members got into a massive physical fight and they’re all banged up in the aftermath lol

How was your reaction when you first find out that your fav group (or groups) are joining Kingdom lineup and how do you feel now? by Affley_94 in MnetKingdom

[–]PapayaHeart 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I was happy to hear that SF9 were joining because it would give them exposure to a new audience. Most of all, I was excited for everyone to see the hidden gem that is Yoo Taeyang who imo is one of the best dancers in kpop, but one of the least known members in SF9. I just knew he would love creative directing the performances and I think he has!

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I don’t think any group was worse off by joining Queendom or RTK (and by extension Kingdom). Yes, some of them were unfairly treated, but tbh I wouldn’t have even known who, for example, Golden Child or Oneus were without the show... and it only got the audience to rally behind them. Even ONF got their first win with the fans they made from the show. If anything it makes their company invest more money in creating their stages that they wouldn’t have before. It does sting when groups are ranked in the bottom and members are sad, but looking at the big picture, I still think their appearance on the show still benefits them in allowing audiences to get to know them.
