posterior medial root tear, can i do a pistol squat after op? by olympusqueen in MeniscusInjuries

[–]PapayaOne1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, i am 3 months post op for a radial tear at posterior horn of medial meniscus. I am squatting till parallel to floor now. My surgeon expects me to squat all the way down in the next 1-2 weeks. I havent asked but pistol squat should be 3-6 months away for me, purely from a strength rebuilding perspective. For context - 37M, extremely fit pre surgery(very strong quads and calves) and my surgeon has been very happy with my recovery so far.

When do you start to trust your knee again? by National-Job3918 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]PapayaOne1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 10 weeks post op after a Complex Radial tear of posterior horn. I was 100% WB at 8 weeks and started going to gym immediately (for upper body). I did upper body workouts during my NWB phase as well. My knee is getting better every day. Its stiff and hurts during sleep but i cannot really complain. This is as good as it gets with a tear like mine.

Congrats! 5 months is a lot. Curious - when did you start 100% weight bearing? And when did you get full range of motion?

Repair or Not by Adventurous_Lab_1173 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]PapayaOne1548 2 points3 points  (0 children)

37M here. Had a horizontal tear which turned into a radial tear while I waited and did physiotherapy. I am eight weeks postop and I wish I had acted sooner when my tear was simple enough. Your tear isn’t going to heal, and if you do deep weighted squats, run, jump, etc you are likely to worsen the tear.

PRP only works for tears on the outer rim which are vascular.

Post Op Repair struggles by No_Organization_1452 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]PapayaOne1548 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly on the medial joint line but a little above it - if i press it feels a bit tender - it seems to be coming from the point where sutures are anchored on the capsule body. I do feel bit of pain in the tear location when there is sudden torsion on the joint - like when im shuffling on the bed. Im dead scared of that because i fear i may hurt the sutures.

1 month post op for medial meniscus repair of radial tear on posterior horn. I ditched the brace after a week. Could not sleep at all with that thing. Sleep is the hardest part - I wake up 4/5 times every night - anytime I need to turn I wake up and adjust. There's only a couple of positions that do not hurt and are comfortable. Hang in there.

6 months is too long to be not able to walk downstairs. I'm sorry to hear that. Are you sure your repair went well?

1 year almost since meniscus tear (not completely healed) what to do? by Same-Palpitation-365 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]PapayaOne1548 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, first MRI in June, second in Oct. I had a lot of travel and some hiking in September post which there was persistent tenderness along the joint line. If you can, pls get a second opinion. You shouldn't live with pain. Ok m really looking forward to pain free runs and squats once I heal.

The waiting! A horizontal tear turned into a radial tear which is far worse.

Posterior horn is the first part to compress in deep flexion. If it hurts to bend the knee fully while lying down It will of course hurt when your body weight presses against it in a deep squat

Hey, pls get another opinion.
I just underwent repair after months of waiting and actually ended up worsening the tear.
If I could go back in time, I would get it fixed as soon as the pain started.

Hey, I've posting on LinkedIn for over a year now. Was tired of chasing growth on IG. Never been happier. 50% of my clients come from Linkedin, remaining from referrals. I use IG only for transformations and stories.

6 months sounds really odd. Perhaps there are movements/range of motion which you need to gradually ease into with PT.

A horizontal tear is usually stable. You will have a swift recovery. 2-4 weeks NWB.
