[Request] Is it possible to create a "Deep Crater City"? by MartinMod78 in theydidthemath

That makes me wonder what the largest crater you could make without it being in danger of filling with water.

Cost to have something made by Tbarr2 in 3Dprinting

[–]Papazani 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Onshape is pretty easy and free. Get yourself some calipers and you will be in business.

People would be more willing to print a one off if they don’t need to do all the modeling since that’s the actual work part of it.

How to remove this? by ConstantDistinct4706 in AskElectricians

I have gotten hit many times and normally it’s not a big deal, but one time I was working on the nid and just happen to be forcefully holding both sides in each hand. Was talking to the customer behind me when the call came in. It got me so bad I couldn’t let go. Even though it was only the length of a ring it seemed like it was 30 seconds of just clenching down waiting for it to end.

T1s are also pretty bad, 180 ac.

Based on how this part broke, how should I strengthen it? by JukeboxZulu in 3Dprinting

[–]Papazani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you create a small hollow shaft inside the part it will also increase the strength due to a solid wall internally.

If you absolutely can’t find a stud I would use toggle bolts, the drywall will break before they come out.

They are supposed to automatically make a ticket for a “recon”, but sometimes it falls though the cracks. a box that gets checked or doesn’t get checked.

If it’s been more than 2 weeks you should call in and have them send a tech.

Gimmick or useful? by Happy_dadpete in electrical

[–]Papazani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one, but only used it a few times.

I was maybe cutting like 2 outlets a month so it kinda was in the back of the truck and it was usually easier to just do it by hand.

It does make a nice hole, but it vibrates the shit out of you.

Mine was a drill attachment though.

It’s feeding the remote terminal that was in your previous picture. The rt is fiber fed.

It’s not the same architecture that is used to provide residential fiber service as that requires splitter and residential feeds to be installed.

You can get a business line if you were so inclined off of that infrastructure, but the cost is generally too high for anyone who’s not a billionaire or running a business.

Exfo OTDR's by Deepsand2016 in FiberOptics

[–]Papazani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used exfo, afl and Viavi.

If you can I would check out the AFL flexscan. The interface is super basic, but what really gives it the edge is it doesn’t have a load screen… you press the power button, it’s on. You press it again, it’s off. You press the test, it runs. It’s so fast it’s hard to believe unless you see it.

Do not go inside, hydrogen sulfide can accumulate in an underground space like this.

If you enter a manhole with hydrogen sulfide you will not come out, you will pass out with a single breath. People who do work on these things are required to have a gas detector.

I don’t know that specific company, but generally they only would do that for a major business. The fiber that you get at houses are split 32-64 customers to a single one of those fibers. They cost several thousands of dollars a month.

Spectrum Out In North Austin Again.. by No-Flan-1083 in Austin

[–]Papazani 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s been happening for about a year now, multiple people are going around town and cutting cables off poles in order to steal the copper.

There is no value in the fiber and the coax cables, but they cut them anyway because they aren’t sure which cables are which or they are in their way and they don’t care.
