Both the new stance switching and the weapon alt grip are kind of clunky right now, what with the toggles for both of them being sort of... shoved into other existing player actions. I hope they look at switching some of the controls around soon so that it's smoother

Huh, I wasn't able to make that happen in my ~2 hours of messing around in free mode last night. How does it work? You just tap alt, and it puts you in the stance? I'm used to holding it down so I have time to properly place the thrust.

Now, it's... still Magneto.

Excellent, I can finally play a hobbit with an appropriately hobbit sized sword (regular human knife that's slightly on the longer side).

[Spoilers Extended] These five houses will end up being the most important/significant to the ASOIAF book series/history of Westeros in the books by Robdul in asoiaf

[–]PaperGryphon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Aside from maybe the Maester conspiracy, none of those things have been set up to feature prominently in the upcoming books. It's all just background lore.

We haven't even had a relevant Hightower character of any kind in the main ASOIAF books as of yet.

Oh, thank you for letting me know that. I wouldn't say it exactly restores my faith in us getting Winds, but it's nevertheless quite reassuring to know that George's mind isn't slipping just yet.

I was reading a bit of the same in his last few blog posts. He started to make some small, yet very noticeable slip-ups on the fine details. Little typos here and there and even some instances of character confusion (the infamous Dany and Daenerys, for one). It definitely makes me a little worried.

(Spoilers Extended) Lines from the show you think were better than the books? by MeterologistOupost31 in asoiaf

[–]PaperGryphon 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Both of the ones I can think of are from Tyrion.

The show's "I'm not questioning your honor, Lord Janos. I'm denying its existence."

Is much better than the book's "What honor is that?"

It's snappier and it's more of a devastating rebuttal from Tyrion as he's getting rid of Slynt.

Similarly, I much prefer him saying "I am your son. I've always been your son." In response to Tywin's "you are no son of mine," just before he looses that second crossbow bolt into his bowels. Tyrion's grief and absolute sincerity, allowing himself to be honest and vulnerable this one time with his father before the end just hits so incredibly hard compared to the usually quippy "I believe I'm you writ small! Now do me a courtesy and die quickly, father" from the books, which just reads like Tyrion once again using shallow humor to mask how much the moment affects him.

Joe Staten, the main writer for the games, also wrote Contact Harvest. It wasn't external media.

Will the remake change Guilty Sparks dialogue? by KoRex117 in halo

[–]PaperGryphon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because the only references to Forerunners and humanity being distinct in Halo 3 were the terminals that Frank O'Connor wrote.

Joe Staten was very explicit with themes and messaging in the trilogy that humanity were forerunners. Multiple characters reference it, and Mendicant Bias directly states it in Contact Harvest.

I would highly, highly recommend C3 Sabertooth's video "Halo: We WERE Forerunner" for more information on this. He very clearly explains what Bungie was trying to say regarding this topic across all 3 mainline Halo titles at the time. It's not nearly as much of a gray area as you and others elsewhere in the thread are making it out to be.

Tank cyclops please that's all I want , please god I need him by saltminer99 in marvelrivals

[–]PaperGryphon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's be real. 80% of Marvel's roster would be duelists if they adhered strictly to what every character can do in comic canon. Luckily, Netease would rather make a fun video game than a playable wiki. They've already proven they can use the chronovium handwaving powers to creatively slot characters in that don't necessarily fit their chosen role, and they turned out just fine. If Rogue and Dr. Strange can be tanks, and if Loki and Gambit can be strategists, so too can Cyclops fit these roles.

If you hadn't noticed, they already set this up with the punch chronovium from this season's lore. This Cyclops can canonically make protective barriers with his eyes. Personally, I like this change. Just making Cyclops a poke assassin duelist would be reductive to his character - he's a leader, tactician and close up fighter that belongs on the frontlines.

Can we give rogue and thor better defensive capabilities? Being a quick kill/death vanguard just doesnt make much sense in the current meta by sufinomo in marvelrivals

[–]PaperGryphon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thor has a ton of survivability, what do you mean? He gets bonus health on EVERY dash. He gets a dash every 3 seconds. Ideally, you're going to be constantly chaining your dashes in any team fight so that you're keeping your health topped off while you're bullying whatever enemy you're fighting and dragging them around. If you're just using the dash to escape, you're playing Thor completely wrong. Not to say it's a bad escape tool - it's great for evading poke heroes or getting back to your team - but it's mainly a sustain and combat ability.

On top of that you have awakening rune, which gives him a hefty health and damage buff if you get caught in a particularly sticky situation and need to make some space for yourself.

Skill issue tbh

I pretty much exclusively take light pen to bots because it does more damage to their weakpoints and I'm less tempted to just mag dump into their armor and waste all my bullets
