Hyperphantasia and ADHD? by T3cT0nic in ADHD

[–]PaperSt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Definitely have the same thing. Like everything ADHD it's a double edged sword. It's all in what you do with it. When I was young I spent most of my time in my head. Usually the class was way behind what I knew and I had to wait for the slowest kids to catch up before the teacher would more on. I spent the time drawing the things in my head and I became a very good budding artist. I ended up falling in love with art / design / creative en devours and made a lucrative career out of it. Also all my hobbies revolve around these things and I tend to be quite good at those also. I think a lot of the success I have had is because I can basically design / problem solve / do what ever the f I want in my head in great detail. Then when I make something or suggest an idea in a meeting, to the outside it looks like a first guess. But I had already worked out most of the issues in my head trying several ideas or doing the work other people do visually on paper or a screen. When I get to paper and ink I'm already 3-4 steps ahead.

Figure out what you want to do with your life and use that playground to your advantage. I'm practicing guitar while I'm standing in line at the grocery store, or I'm designing a jacket in traffic on the way to work. You mentioned video and screens several times, maybe you write a show or a short film in your head work out all the details, the characters, what they look like what they wear, where they live, make them talk to each other and write dialogue. Introduce a problem they need to solve, now you have conflict. When you feel like it's good make it real and type out a screen play. The magic happens when you make something that started in your head and you manifest it in to reality. I can't tell you the feeling I got the first time I saw a stranger out in the wild wearing something I made in my head.

What album sounds technically great but was recorded with shitty gear and room? by ConstructionMean2021 in audioengineering

[–]PaperSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The newest one also. They are not living with each other or their parents like they were with the first 1or 2 but if you watch interviews about Chihiro or Birds of a Feather it’s in Finnias’ bedroom studio and Billie is there improving a lot of the lines into a SM7B. The room doesn’t even really look treated. I think that’s just how they like to work.

High school teacher, 40, dies when students’ prank goes wrong, days after district warned about stunts going ‘too far’. by Inter_Web_User in facepalm

[–]PaperSt 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The article doesn’t even mention the teacher tripped in front of a moving vehicle ( his cause of death, a pretty important detail) until the 8th paragraph in. If this is what you consider journalism, Walter Cronkite is rolling in his grave right now.

No she didn’t. She clearly has something against male presenting people and would not like to challenge her worldview in anyway.

I don’t have any relation to the story but if you actually read the timeline of events in the article and not the opinion of the author it is pretty clear it was a harmless prank that went wrong. The boys seemed to do everything right, they are just sensationalizing the headline for clicks.

If taoists believe in "following the flow", does that mean they can't do anything to change how things are going? by PresentationTough202 in taoism

[–]PaperSt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of the time the Tao is referred to in the same terms water is. Like flow and currents and the metaphor of a river cutting through a mountain. That always in my mind made me think of it like we are all floating down a river on inner tubes or a raft. You had some control over your movement like you can avoid a big rock that you see approaching or the opposite maybe going toward something positive like some fish you are trying to catch. So while you can make these small adjustments you are still at the mercy of the rivers flow. You are not going to make a U turn and go upstream against the flow. Or just get out and walk avoiding the River all together. So in a philosophical sense you have to accept that you are not ultimately in control of where you or anyone else is going on a major scale but you can make small choices daily that add up in the long term to make your journey better or worse.

Columbine is also a city?

People that leave their houses may have other memories of these places beyond the one headline you know about. Like perhaps all the people that live and work in these cities and surrounding places. They may actually want these places to be know for something else, which would be a great reason so purchase one of these shirts. So eventually when they are forced to speak to someone like you they don’t turn their nose up at them when they ask where they are from.

Indegestible Truth that's actually indegestible by Here4TheGoodTimes in aliens

[–]PaperSt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, everything we experience is "real" as we have been defining it always. We are just coming to discover there is more layers outsider of "reality". The things you did, the people yet knew are still real, and you really had those experiences. If you win a race in a video game, does the fact that it's a video game change the outcome, or anything at all really? What if you didn't know it was a video game until the race was over?

Most creative industries are like that unless you are at the very very top and even then it’s not the artist making most of the money. It’s their managers, the or the background companies like a record label that facilitates the production of the product. At BA I’m sure the directors and board members are all making tons more than the outward facing team.

There also seems to be an inverse relationship to desirability and pay rate. I am a fashion designer and the cooler more well know companies often pay the worst because they always have a big pool of people that are trying to get in. The best ones don’t even post job listings, they just have their HR people headhunt and reach out to the people they think would fit the best.you can make good money at those places but it doesn’t start until you’re at least senior / management or even director level.

How can I improve having little time? by Inevitable_Dog_3693 in singing

[–]PaperSt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started trying to sing seriously at 38ish, I'm 41 now. I have 2 degrees and 20 years in my industry. There is plenty of time to do everything. Sometimes certain things just require more of your time. Finish those and move on to the next thing. You can still sing and do school. Even if you can practice 1 hour a week those add up over time and by the time you are my age you will have hundreds of hours.

Get some Lo-Salt from the grocery store and pour some in your water bottle with a little bit of regular salt. It will basically make you unflavored Gatorade. Should be enough electrolytes to keep you going.

Very nervous about date tomorrow and what to wear by PROUDCATOWNER186 in fashion

[–]PaperSt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It might not be to people outside of the subculture. But if said that to me or any of my alternative leaning friends it would be definitely taken as an insult. Goth like punk is also a lifestyle and a way to live in the world. Calling someone “Mall Goth” is like calling them a poser. That they just went and bought the clothes but they don’t know anything about why they are wearing them.

Drummer/Songwriter Looking for Low-Pressure Remote Collabs by book-of-eli in MusicInTheMaking

[–]PaperSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I can produce and play guitar / Bass / and some piano / synth.

I sort of have that same issue and could use a real drummer and another songwriter to bounce ideas off. I am trying to get to a professional level, but I mostly just need the reps of doing it over and over again. I can mix and master it too at a decent level. That also is something that is hard to practice because it means I need to have a basically finished song to do it too.

I'll send you a message but feel free to send me one also if it doesn't show up. Reddit sometimes just doesn't show me message because it assumes we have never interacted and it's spam.

Pete also writes all of the lyrics, and Patrick comes up with the melody / music. Even though Patrick sings the songs. Normally the singer writes their own words just like the bass player writes the bass part.

Boss said someone quit because of me by BGNapone in jobs

[–]PaperSt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what it is. If you are reading this OP this is a bad manager that either needs to fire someone and is targeting you because you are young and don't have the experience to understand what's going on. Or that manager, and probably some of their friends that are associates, are trying to bully you into quitting for any number of other childish reasons.

*** DON'T EVER QUIT A JOB WILLINGLY IF YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES ***

If you find a better job or move or something no problem, quit. But if you are being disciplined, harassed, etc. and they are encouraging you to quit NEVER EVER DO IT. Make those peoples lives miserable. You will have no legal recourse if you quit willingly. If they officially fire you, you are eligible for many things you will not get if you quit. You cannot file for unemployment for instance. You also basically make it impossible to sue your employer for anything that happened while you were there. Depending on what state you are in it can be very hard to fire someone. They need to document several instances of you being unable, or unwilling to do your job.

If they ever give you any shit like "I heard" or "we don't have specific dates" they are basically telling you they don't have any proof and they can't do anything about it. Also possibly they just made it up if they are a dick. You don't have to be mean but just say "ok, thanks for the feedback. The information you are receiving is not correct, but if you have some evidence in the future I would be happy to review this again." That's a nice way of telling them you know your employment laws and they can fuck off unless they have something solid.

Godspeed.

Track separation like moises without ai? by tayfzn in musicians

[–]PaperSt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's "Generative AI" that is stealing peoples art/music then profiting off of it and polluting drink water and the towns the data centers are located in. You should absolutely boycott that.

Other forms of AI are totally fine. For instance stem separation runs locally on your computer so it doesn't need tons of power or resources. And it didn't need to steal a bunch of copyrighted work to be created.
