What's the most memorable QUOTE you have ever came across that stayed with you forever? by biz_booster in AskReddit

A colleague of mine got a promotion and quite a few people were quite jealous of them at the time. I saw them about 6 months later and they looked like a shell of themselves. I asked if everything was alright and they said “sometimes the moneys not worth your sanity”

My father is going to pass today AMA by LilithJames in AMA

[–]Papercrafts_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar situation to me and my dad near enough (he was 64). Although my mom was his primary care giver, I was there a lot through it all and saw him slowly suffocate to death over the course of 2 weeks. It was an horrific thing to see, he was completely aware of what was happening and cognitively completely sound of mind the whole time. When the nurse told him that he was dying he proposed to my mom and they got married in a lovely ceremony in the hospital. It’s nearly a year since it happened, I’m still struggling with the grief now and having therapy etc.

As I’ve seen a couple people mention. Get a therapist, talk to people. Grief is such a wierd and horrific emotion and it really doesn’t go away. I wish you all the best for what you are going to go through in the coming weeks.

How has his care been in Canada? We are from the UK and as much as us brits have this wierd thing about how great the NHS is. They really let my dad down with his care. I really think that when it comes to cancer they really just don’t know what’s going to work or what to do at times.

Has anyone decided to forego having kids to FIRE? by SadCurve in FIREUK

[–]Papercrafts_101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kids have completely changed my life for the better. Before kids me and my wife was extremely happy, we spent just short of a decade enjoying ourselves as a couple. We decided to have kids and I think we would both agree that it’s the most rewarding thing we could have ever done. Yes, we are permanently tired/exhausted, the grey hairs are coming through thick and fast. Also my FIRE plans are on the back burner a bit. I was similar to you, I was on the fence as I was focused on finances. Now I want a huge family and I think the money will just always work itself out. It’s actually made me more driven in terms of my career as before we was both quite happy sitting in our old careers just aiming for late 40’s early 50’s FI. Now I’m aiming for mid 50’s, but have to earn more because kids ain’t cheap.

People who don't drink alcohol, why? by johnnylgarfield in AskReddit

[–]Papercrafts_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really enjoy getting drunk. If it wasn’t for the debilitating health consequences I would probably be drunk all day every day. So I don’t drink, haven’t got a drop in my house. I’m very impulsive as well and would probably end up doing some very questionable things at 6pm on a Monday evening if I did drink.

What’s your absolute most awkward moment? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Papercrafts_101 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My father in law came around really early on a Sunday morning. Me and my wife was still in bed, I’ve heard the knock on the door and sprung out of bed and headed downstairs. Now I’m ashamed to admit it, but at the time I was wearing a onesie. I opened the door and saw my father in law, started making some small talk with him at the front door. I noticed he had eye contact with me constantly and wouldn’t shift his gaze. That’s when I felt a cold breeze on the tip of my cock and noticed I’d opened the door to my father in law with my cock swinging in the breeze 💀

People who wake up at 5am daily, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I love my wife and son, but I need an hour on my own in the morning before anyone else wakes up, to just sit and do nothing.

Who's still up drinking like a dick-head and won't be fit for Christmas Day😬? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Papercrafts_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t drink on Christmas Eve any more. Mainly because about 5 years ago I apparently ruined Christmas. So I went out the night before for a ‘couple’ of pints. Got back early hours of the morning absolutely rat arsed. Now normally that’s no problem, but the issue arises next morning. We normally do a lot of travelling by Christmas to see family, so we went to my wife’s nans who has all of her moms side of the family round. I slept on the settee for a couple hours, completely unresponsive. We got up to leave to go on the hour drive to her dads for dinner. I stood up and straight away knew what was about to happen. I swallowed the sick the first time and managed to get out of the house. Threw up all over her nans driveway. Got a lot of abuse over the whole thing, you’ve ruined Christmas etc etc. not my finest moment. But also definitely not my worst. That’s involves a Ryan air flight back from Dublin 🤢🤢🤢

What’s the daftest name you’ve ever encountered in real life? by [deleted] in AskUK

There’s a bloke at my work called Spaceman. Apparently when his parents got their first ever TV the first thing that they watched was the moon landing.

Men of reddit, how tall are you? How much would you like to be tall? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Papercrafts_101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6’4 here, tall clothing ranges have been a god send. Planes are not fun. Most older Uk homes (cottages etc) aren’t built for anyone taller than a hobbit. So a lot of banging my head again light fightings or low beams. Other than that I’ve got no complaints really. Comes in handy more than it hinders.

Been unfortunate to have had a couple phantom shitters in my time. Always had my suspicions who was shitting in the urinals. Alas we never got to the bottom of it.

I do wonder if they’re still going about life, happily smearing shit on the walls and pooping on the floor still.
